  • Cricket Wireless iPhone 5S and 5C to have LTE

My conclusion from all the hardware specs is that LTE will be supported soon. I think Cricket must be working out authentication methods on the network and perhaps some other stuff.

Honestly, Cricket would suffer big time in the iPhone department if they didn't get it working. I wouldn't expect support for the 5 (not 5S / 5C) ever though.

    Your thoughts?

My thoughts? Sure. I think (unless someone who owns one says differently). They are selling the verizon/ATT/Tmo model number iphones and are simply waiting for the ATT merger to come through then will jump on ATT's LTE (and/or ATT's GSM and LTE since it would easily convert carriers).

I dont think you will see Apple certify LTE on Cricket's native coverage. But.... I could be wrong.

A more plausible reason is that Verizon is planning to deploy LTE on the AWS band in some places to relieve congestion which gives Apple a better reason to add that band to the 5S and 5C.

The iphone 5s already works with AWS LTE, it has since the iphone 5. They have nothing to enable for verizons 20x20 AWS LTE, in fact it already works with it.

AWS LTE is already live and used by: ATT, T-mobile, Metropcs, Cricket, Verizon, Rogers, Bell, Telus and more. Basically every noteworthy north american carrier except sprint.
