  • Cricket Wireless Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Thread with Poll

Alright, here we go again. Another S device and more speculation. The difference is this time, we're in the middle of the AT&T takeover and a change of network types is looming over us.

Please keep most of the speculation in this thread. Cite sources for release dates when possible.

NewCricket wont get it. It will be an ATT exclusive to get people to post paid vs prepaid. I see Cricket only having low end to low end of mid range phones. Att will block S5 from its cricket network.

What in the world are you talking about? Att currently offers the S4 on AIO. There is no way in hell Att will not sell the phone and even you can purchase any of the other versions unlock for GSM carriers and use it.

Attached can find the s5 and ban them. I also know that just because they have the s4 which is yesterday's left over garbage that they will not allow the s5 as it will be a att exclusive until the S6 is out

Yeah pretty far fetched speculation since AT&T allows all of their phones on AIO without requiring them to be unlocked.

but keep in mind this is not aio this is the new cricket... Very different... Besides att will also cross check cricket customers who owe att money and suspend the new cricket accounts. Also att will raise prices by getting rid of muve and replacing it with beats for a monthly payment of $10

AT&T purchased Cricket to gain more spectrum, leverage that against other carriers, and stop the prepaid bleeding. Pretty sure they are making an effort to capture a larger chunk of prepaid users and not submarine the whole brand along with AIO at the same time.

Well they want to get rid of deadbeats and surprise and get only the good paying prepaid people. And it's all about the spectrum and nothing about prepaid. Mark my words they will sell cricket customers off over time.

      WTF?

OK, so now for the original question. I think at this point it will take longer to get the phone. Probably a month and a half or two will see the phone with GSM bands.

I think they should start now in offering new phones for free. I will take a LG g3 or nexus 5 for my HTC one sv

Realistically, I think they'll give us half-price towards the purchase of a new high end phone.

not good enough... i am not the one who came up with the idea to merge att into cricket... I want a free replacement phone for my htc one sv, it should be similar such as an samsung s5 or iphone 6

I don't think that will happen, people with feature phones will get a even trade, but for us with the middle to high end smart phones will have to pay something.

I agree. I don't mind paying 250 or 300, I usually purchase a new phone every year at full retail price around 500 to 600. Plus if they offer the finance option then is not that bad.

Thats what im worried about with this merger.. What happens to the people who already Fianced the S4 or similiar phones and are still paying? Do they still get an offer to trade in? :S

Also if around the beginning of the New Year if I loose My phone or it gets taken and need a insurance replacement, do I get a gsm phone or a expiring exact replacement?

Everyone isnt going to get it exactly the way they want the switch to happen. I'm predicting:

      1. There will be some kind of large discount to switch phones so customers dont get too pissed and leave.
      2. Financed phones will subtract the owed amount the discount amount of the new GSM phone.
      3. Once the stores are setup to start putting people on GSM accounts then the CDMA line of phones will no longer be sold.
      4. Once the GSM accounts start, the current CDMA phones will still work for months until they can convince everyone to come in the store and exchange it with a discounted equivalent GSM phone.
      5. ATT will probably will push Jan 1, 2015 as a cut off date to switch phones.
      6. Yea, not sure about cricket people with previous bad ATT accounts. There is chance they will never know about bad accounts since they probably have sold them(written them off) to a collection agency.

....but no one knows and my crystal ball needs new batteries too.

Wise I think those possibilities make sense. We know that att wants the spectrum but they also want as many cricket customers they can convince to switch over. I can't see them allowing millions of customers to walk that easy. Money is the game here and att wants more of it.
If I can upgrade to the s4 or s5 next year I'll be happy with that if the service is a lot better than what I have now.
