  • iPhone 5 on Cricket did NOT receive the LTE update

Apple pushed the iOS 6.1 update yesterday that included 4G LTE support for 36 iPhone carriers and 23 for the iPad. Along with being able to purchase Fandango movie tickets via Siri and the ability to download individual songs to iOS devices from iCloud.

This was a big update for some. I admit, I was one of the excited ones thinking that Cricket Wireless had to be one of the 36 carriers getting the LTE update. (Apple didn't release who was receiving the 4G update.)

As many of you know, the Cricket iPhone 5 does NOT have 4G LTE and the band that Cricket uses for LTE is still not supported (band 4). Which is a really big disappointment. I didn't understand why it wouldn't have it. I mean, all in all, for those of you who don't care about processors etc., it's just the iPhone 4S with a taller screen. The whole reason why I wanted to upgrade to the 5 was because of LTE, I didn't care that it had a faster chip put in, or that it had a taller screen, I just wanted faster internet. I honestly felt a little outdated with 3G too...

As many of you know, Cricket was not one of the 36 carriers to receive the LTE update. Which in my opinion, was STUPID. Why would you not put LTE on the Cricket iPhone 5?!? It's one of the largest wireless providers in the United States for crying out loud. This update could have potentially upped the number of users on Cricket Wireless and on iPhone 5 because this is what people want. People want to be able to buy a new phone at a decent price, with up to date technology. Oh, and it's not on a contract, can't forget to throw that in there. It would have been perfect!

So, needless to say, Apple, you disappointed me. I had high hopes for you, but you couldn't pull through. Guess I'll just have to wait to see if Cricket gets the iPhone 5S & if it has LTE.

    END RANT.

I didn't think I'd care for it that much until I switched to Verizon on the RAZR. Since then I've had to have LTE. I use wifi a lot at work and home as well..

If I put my Verizon LTE sim in an iphone5 probably nothing would work? It was tempting to buy one and give it a shot but not ready to throw money away.
