  • Mini Review- Cricket HTC One V

I am impressed. It's not the SGS3, but it's a step up from Cricket's previous line-up. If you got the Mercury I'd hold onto it as this phone is running a little bit slower and the screen is not as big.

    Audio sounds great!
Feels solid and fits the hand nicely.
1GB internal memory available to the user.
Do not like the battery is non-removable.
There are also no dust covers for the charger/headset ports
    ANDROID 4.0!

This phone feels real cheaply-made in my opinion. Have you taken the One V and compared it to the One S and One X? The X and S both have a 1.5ghz processor and 8 megapixel camera compared to the V's 1ghz processor and 5 megapixel camera. I don't like the little lip at the bottom either. Looks like the old ugly HTC G1. Why you so cheap Cricket?? Lol...

yes. . why is cricket so cheap as not to get the htc one s, or one x. . you know all cricket customers can pay for an off contract high end smart phone like that. that's why the iphone is just flying off the shelf LOL! the one x, and one s retail price starts at $500. to compare a phone that costs half as much makes so much sense to me! i can't wait for the iphone5 so i can listen to people complain about how much it will cost and how the $50 smart phone isn't as good.

get the HTC ONE V at my store for only $180 when you switch to cricket.

If people are complaining about the cost, they really shouldn't be buying one. I'm not rich and full of money, but I'd rather pay $500 for a quality phone, rather than $250 for a piece of junk lol. Thank goodness Cricket has an open network where I can use a quality phone and not be stuck buying their plastic toy phones. If their network wasn't open, I wouldn't be paying for their service.

Anyway, my whole point is that Cricket can do better with their phones, especially this new HTC. I'm kind of disappointed. When I heard the HTC One was going to hit the shelves I was like woooooow.....Until I found out it's not even the HTC One, but a stripped down economy version.

Cricket is cheap because it's customers are cheap.

Why would Cricket "do better" if the MINORITY are willing to pay for a $500 phone? To make YOU happy? You are ONE person and frankly they don't care about one person. They market to the MAJORITY of customers and that majority is not going to spend more that 250 on a phone.

And since you have an S3 which the HTC can't compete with at all, why do you even care?

Well besides it being 1 Ghz, smaller screen, and no front face camera. It has ICS, much bigger dev support, and it already has CM10. So why not?

Where's the storage?!? If all we have is 95MB, then we have another Ascend II on our hands with "Low Storage" complaints all the time. I played with this phone during training the other day and it is a very snappy and easy to use.

The camera is going to be the selling point. It is the fastest camera I have seen on a phone. We played with it and captured 30 photos in just seconds.... It is also the most feature rich, with HDR and ISO adjustment and the largest apeture opening of any camera phone on the market currently. Of course that is because the camera has its own RAW chip. So, the phones processor is not handling the camera so much as the RAW chip is doing everything.

OK. So it is NOT as low as previously thought. I didn't even think to check the storage on the test units the field rep brought! I wish it would have had a little more, around 2 would have been better, but I'll take the 1!

As much as I would like Cricket to carry the high end devices like the One S and X, there is NO WAY our customer base will pay that. Our customer base wants something for nothing or a high end device at the entry level price. It is simply impossible to accomplish this task. See iPhone sales as proof....

Cricket is getting MUCH better at getting mid-tier devices at better rates to offer our customers. As a company, Cricket MUST cater to its clientele when it comes to device pricing. This phone will be offered at $219.00 after rebate. It is a great device in that price range and it will sell because of that. Hopefully, it will be one of the most stable devices we offer....

I do agree with most posts here. If you have a Merc, stay with it. If not, this is the best second choice available in Cricket's lineup for those NOT wanting a Crapple iCrap device.

Know what...I've made up my mind. Unless the GS3 or iPhone 5 is released at a more attractive price (which I wouldn't hold my breath for) I'm gonna get the One V. Its got an amazing camera which is important to me because although I'm a photographer, I don't like carrying my camera around all the time. It's got a lot of dev support and I'm looking forward to CM10 with it. Idk, I wish they'd carry it in black though. I can live without the front facing camera since Skype/Oovoo uses up too much data and I hate taking pictures of myself. Lol the irony of a non-photogenic photographer is crazy. As for the smaller screen, it fits the phone, at least it isn't the size of the merc with a 3.7 inch screen. The 1ghz processor and ICS run wonderfully on the Nexus S so I'll be ok. However, in the event that I change my mind, the Official Mercury ICS will be out by the time I get the One V so I'll have a nice back up plan. I only have one question, if my battery in the one V gets messed up some how, can I just send it to radio shack or HTC and get it repaired????

I would keep the Mercury over any phone Cricket offers so far...The Mercury has the same(Zte V8000) or better than all the other smartphones(Crickets androids)...id stick to be Merc until something noticably better is released

Yeah, my friend just got a one v and after playing with it, I didn't see anything that would make me get this phone.

I bought the phone and overall I like it.

      Here's my review:
The camera is not good. This can't compare to the quality of my 5-6 years old Nokia. Pictures get blurry if you move, there is AF but it's not the best and the picture is not very clear. But I don't really care about the camera. Yes the phone has 95.23MB storage but it also have internal 1GB storage where application install themselves and store data/cache. Right now my phone memory usage is 0.03MB. I already have lots of apps like Skype etc...The external SD is used for the camera and the Muve Music App. The phone does slows down sometimes on heavy usage but it usually runs very smooth and is very stable. I really like Android 4, the HTC Car application. The design is nice too - very comfortable to hold and use.

      The phone has two problems:
      1) The battery never gets full charge. It always says "Charging" and stays at 81%;
      2) I decided to upgrade my plan and use Muve Music. It crashes every time you want to download more than 1 song. It just slows down and crashes. When it works it's very slow and unusable. 10% of the songs don't play after download - one have to manually delete them - re-download and hope for the best. Sound quality is not the best but it's OK. It mainly has new popular american pop songs and some old but unpopular songs. Any search for a good popular song that's European or not Hip-Hop, R&B just fails. (I'm back at my Google Music account buying songs.)

Here's a link with pictures(Full Res) and video(HD) made with the phone:
