  • [ROM][Official][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies for the Cricket Galaxy S4

    Chris Rodriguez -

    Our leading moderator Stephen Proffitt has posted up about the first nightly CM10.1 release for the Cricket Wireless Samsung Galaxy S4. Stephen led the way in obtaining this device and providing required files/information to members of the CM team. Thank you for your contribution to our community. More information after the break.

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>

    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
     *
     */
    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

    Instructions

    First time flashing CyanogenMod 10.1 your device, or coming from another ROM?

    1. Download the zip(s).
    2. Install a compatible Recovery (see here(still relevant to cri))
    3. Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM (Optional)
    4. Wipe data & cache partitions of your device (required when coming from stock!).
    5. Flash CyanogenMod.
    6. Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.

    Other Issues?

    Before posting on this thread, make sure of a few things:

    • You've utilized the search function of the forums. Nothing irritates me more than lazy people who do not search for an answer before asking.
    • If you are the only one having a problem. Boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, reflash the rom/gapps and nothing else. Boot up and see if the problem persists.
    • Make sure your post is relevant to this thread. "I'm having problems rooting/unlocking" is NOT relevant here.

    Experience issues? As these are nightlies, bug reports are not accepted. You are relying on yourself and your peers in this thread for support!

    The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

      You're the man thanks so . That nightly I flashed keeps losing 4g data

      The nightly I flashed had a few weird things about it. I noticed the phone performance would stutter randomly, which was very noticeable in transitions, and even in one app I launched (this app ran flawlessly 60 FPS in my former single core 1gz, not that means much, but I found it curious) Also, I somehow killed the keyboard where it wouldn't show up anymore, and I had to reboot (upon reboot, Google voice kept shutting down even though I wasn't pulling it up, and the keyboard was sporadically appearing)

      Also, battery life seemed a little worse, which was distressing because today the phone mostly stayed in my pocket, but yesterday when I was on stock, I was putting some moderate use in it throughout the day with data, Muve Music, some gaming, and Gmail inbox updates, which the new ROM currently is not doing etc)

      So this weekend I might see if there's progress with other ROMs, or I might even go back to stock. Heck, performance and battery seemed pretty decent. It's a shame because this ROM is quite slick visually.

      I'm definitely going back to stock, for the time being anyway. I've lost the ability for MMS in this ROM.

      EDIT: Also, I read somewhere that all of the bloatware has its own partition in the phone, so removing it simply isn't enough to free up space. Is that something a new ROM can even fix? I only ask because I was still down an incredible amount of space with this ROM.

      I'm going to have to try your package, Stephen. For some reason Clockwork won't flash my backup.

      EDIT: Same here, Stephen. Didn't flash for me.

      Thanks. It's appreciated. I tried the newest nightly, and still can't send MMS. So weird. And I still can't figure out why it won't take my backup I made before flashing to the first ROM
