  • [ROOT] Cricket Samsung Galaxy S4 / S3 without tripping KNOX Counter (4.3)

Hello everyone. I've used this newer root method on both the Note 3 and S4. They were AT&T variants however it should work with the Cricket S3 and S4.

This method doesn't trip the KNOX Counter, but you will have the custom logo with the unlocked lock icon when booting the device. There are ways to fix that. When I get back from the holidays I'll test some stuff out.

Please be aware that I cannot guarantee this will work so use at your own risk as usual.

UPDATE: PLEASE CHECK THE COMMENTS WHERE IT WAS VERIFIED TO WORK ON THE CRICKET S4.

Just followed the instructions on the youtube video and everything is showing 0x0, so it doesn't look like it was tripped and I am rooted

      so i got a question,
now that the gs4 and gs3 can be rooted on 4.3 {that's a statement} does that also mean that twrp recovery or any other custom recovery can be installed on the gs4 because my gs4 the cricket version is rooted and it's got twrp recovery installed on it, {an interesting fact is that my phone is rooted and i got yesterday the ota update downloaded to my phone i thought rooted phones could not get that but i did lol} i read on another thread someone saying that if you get the knox bootloader you can start saying goodbye to custom roms because this bootloader won't allow flashing roms no more.

so can we get custom recoveries with this root on 4.3 or no?
are we able to flash custom roms or would we be able to do it at some point with knox bootloader?
should i stay with gs4 on 4.2.2 for a while to remain on the safe side until someone confirms flashing custom roms on knox is possible?
and last if i take the ota update what do i loose by upgrading to 4.3 and what do i gain by upgrading besides getting a cooler os updated lol?

p.s. i don't mind trigering the knox bootloader because i'm not planning on having insurace my phone has been with me like either 4 or 6 moths already
besides loosing insurance what else do you loose by trigering the knox bootloader out of curiosity?

Yes you can flash a rom after the 4.3 update. At least I did after root and recovery just to see if it would flash a custom rom. I'm using cwm 6. something something. but the only issue I have with it is after I'm done in recovery, before I reboot I get this fix root message.not a big problem.

wait so you are saying that it's posible to flash a custom rom
      now 2 things
1 which carrier do you got
2 how did you get clock work mod on it
i only ask because i just wanna know for sure if we are gonna have the same phone and same software i'm on gs4 with cricket
by the way which rom did you get and what custom firmware are you running 4.3 or 4.4 on the custom rom
      thanks for replying

ok now i got another question, so there is this user name warboy on cricket users
he's got a rom called i think mk4 deodexed and it's on 4.3 now i believe he does not have the knox bootloader and he's got this working with a recovery named phil'z recovery

what are the benefits and differences of being on his rom rather than the official ota 4.3 update?
if i get sick of his rom or tired can i get the official over the air update, and just be on official 4.3 update or that's not posible i just wanna now?

      p.s.
my guess is if i stay on war boy's custom rom is that i get more freedom but if i get the ota update i will get the annoying knox bootloader and most likely less freedom
what do you guys recommend me do?
      i'm all ears!

      Hello

I've already tried to root my phone many times, but it keeps failing.

      I have a Cricket Samsung Galaxy S3 4.3

When I try to root it, a grey shield pops ups and says something like "Unauthorized access to a secured area on your phone has been blocked"

It seems SE for Android is blocking it. Does anyone knows how to get fix this?

Yes this method worked perfectly on my Cricket Galaxy S4 using 4.3. Knox is not showing that it was disturbed after root. I have full root with no issues. Just watch the video and follow it. Very easy.

Thank you for an excellent root. Soo easy!

Probably. But as long as it doesn't effect the performance of my phone I don't care. Besides I really don't understand the Knox bl stuff. I guess ignorance is bliss.

After i rooted my phone and i opened supersu it says "samsung KNOX has been detected" and then it gives an option to try and disable it. Should i disable it?

Looks like this was answered, but yes disable Knox. Then find SU in apps then should be good to go.

First off I didn't root with this method so I know nothing of it. What exactly does it do after the shield pops up?
