  • [VIDEO] Verizon HTC Droid DNA Unlocking Bootloader, Rooting, and Installing CWM

This a video tutorial for unlocking the bootloader, root, and installing a custom recovery on the Verizon Wireless HTC Droid DNA.

You have to use a workaround to unlock the bootloader. This is probably the most time consuming portion.

Instructions: [Exclusive] How To: Unlock The Droid DNA's Bootloader

Google Android SDK: Android SDK | Android Developers

Since I work with a few different phones, it took me a little while to piece everything together. You cannot unlock your device by just going to the HTC Dev site at this point. You will get this message:

"We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
    Error Code: 160.
    Error Reason: MID Not Allowed."

Thank you to everyone who made unlocking the bootloader a reality!

Once your bootloader is unlocked (see previous video), you can install a custom recovery and root your Verizon HTC Droid DNA.

Oh yeah you already got it.

I know what you're waiting for. I'm still adding apps back from the bootloader unlocking.

I saw that you've flashed the Nexus. Why wait for my stupid tutorial. Basic thing is setting the device to NV only, CDMA, and not R-UIM.

Just wanna make sure I get everything exactly right with it, and I know if I wait for your video I'll have something to reference if I run into a problem. Wanna do it right.

Fair enough. I gotta kick mraab in the butt to make sure we have mms.

Even GSM users are having issues with MMS. I poked around but no dice.
