  • Vote - When do you expect an official JellyBean update for the Cricket Wireless S3?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a flagship device for Samsung and just about every carry which carries it. The burden of the incremental and major updates do not just rest on the carry. A large part of that is a responsibility of the manufacturer as it is their device. They have taken the time to select the hardware, develop software for it, and deliver the finished product.

For carriers like Cricket Wireless, a failure to update the device can leave a bad taste in many of the consumers which choose to purchase it. Despite the fact that Cricket Wireless most likely forks up more money when purchasing device than the end user will pay, they are paying more up front than with a majority of the other carriers which carry it.

We can assume that those who took the plunge with this device did expect some support and at a minimum, one large update. Should those in this situation hope that they receive the next big update and skip Jellybean altogether? What is your opinion on the situation? Remember that a large number of customers were quite displeased with Huawei for never pushing out an official update to the Mercury.

CM10.1 is a great ROM for those willing to live on the edge, but the typical user will not take part of that endeavor. They will only wind up using the software that is available to the device upon its release or streamed to their device in the form of an over the air (OTA) update.

Please vote. We would like to know your opinion if you are an owner or if you were. Are you happy with your purchase despite it still being on Ice Cream Sandwich?

A wise man once said, purchase a phone you will be happy with from the start. Not all phones get updates. In this situation, I'm going to lean towards it receiving some sort of update in time.

I am loving my galaxy s3.. It's the best phone I've had to date... Especially with unlimited talk txt and data. (which I have the 10gb lte plan).. I've been on both sides of the fence.. Stock rom and cm10.1..i know this update will happen... I won't lose faith..

Hopefully Cricket gets the update(s). One would think since they brought this high-end phone to their market the subsequent "updates" should folllow suit...IMO. Being one of those who lives on the edge, I'll just flash those ROMs that eventually come our way (CM 10.1 user).

I would like it to be available by march the latest .. thats the whole 1st quarter. We should be treated like the rest of the s3 users.

My first smart phone was the ascend my second the mercury so the s3 is a giant and expensive step for me as far as phones go. I'm not concerned about an update atm being i know now how to flash updated roms whenever i want which is why i love Android.

Yup that's y im not concerned with update and besides the update will only be to 4.1.2 not 4.2.1 like CyanogenMod 10.1

Muve Music update, or Jelly Bean update? There is every reason to believe they are separate. The Muve update to the Mercury did not include the Ice Cream Sandwich update. Plus, I tend nowadays to not place any faith that Cricket will take care of their customers.......maybe i'll be surprised.......?

If update is Muve you should just root and update to 4.2.2 jelly bean cm 10.1
