    Huawei Ascend 2 - questions

    Hello everyone,

I just got the Ascend 2 from cricket and have a couple of questions:

How do you clear history of previous searches?

Is it normal to lose battery life in 2 hours if you are running apps?

Is there a limit to how many apps we install due to storage? how can I maximize storage?

Is there an online manual anywhere bc I received nothing with the phone.

    Thanks!!!!

In the web browser, hit the menu key, go to "More" and scroll down to "Privacy Settings". You can clear web history there if that's what you're looking for.

Well, the battery is going to go down with use, but I don't think it should be dead in two hours. If you're using the phone a lot, like streaming video, then it might go quickly.

No, there isn't a limit. You can store apps on your SD Card, so you can put as many on that your SD card can hold.

No, you can't. If you want Adobe Flash I recommend getting the Samsung Indulge.

Avenue, Thomas did mention he was able to get Flash running on the pre-alpha rooted (from SD card) version so there could be a chance it could get it in the future through root, right?

Avenue, thank you SOOO much. This was extremely helpful. I do have a couple more questions:

What would you say is the average life a battery with moderate use of apps/phone calls?
Why does cell standby take up so much battery and how can I change this?
In airplane mode, I can save battery, but I don't get any calls/messages, right?
Finally, is there a way of locking the screen when you are on a call so your cheek doesn't accidentally press buttons, or it's just about mastering the art?
How can I end running apps? I constantly go to Applications, Running applications and end them, only to see them running again.

Thanks!! I take it you have this phone? HOw do you like it?

From my understanding, you can't get flash. It was said you could get flash on the first Huawei Ascend but I don't know of anyone that was able to do it. If Thomas said he did it, then I guess it is possible. I'm not sure. That's a question for Thomas.

    You're welcome.

The average battery life can vary. It should be able to get through a day with moderate use.

If you check under "Battery Use" it might say it's taking up a big percentage but if you actually watch the battery percentage is it really going down quickly? I have Gauge Battery Widget. I like that. It shows the battery percentage in the status bar.

That is correct. You won't get any calls or texts in airplane mode. Like I said earlier though, with moderate use you should be fine. You could always carry a charger with you too.

When you're on a call, try pressing the lock button. But I'd think the screen would automatically go off after you're on the call for a few seconds.

You should be able to end the applications there. You can also get a Task Manager from the Market. Some applications probably should run in the background. I wouldn't really worry about that much.

Actually, I don't have the phone. I have the first Huawei Ascend. I would like to get the Ascend 2 though. But, what I'm really waiting for is the Huawei Glory.

Have you seen the videos on the Huawei Ascend 2?

Actually the manual is built into the phone. Look in the app drawer for "User Guide".

ACTUALLY you ARE NOT supposed to run a task killer with 2.3, its built to end tasks on its own, and if your killing your battery in two hours you have way too much time on you hands, slow down, I use mine alot and easily get 4-5 hours, but I've thing to check is make sure wifi and gps are off...

Yeah, I've heard you're not supposed to use them. I don't recommend them to people, but the member above wanted to know how to end applications, so I told them. Like you said, Android is supposed to do its thing and handle it.

I have the Ascend 2, and when I'm talking, the screen turns off when I put it against my cheeck, and when I take it off my cheek, it turns on! It's awesome...I think it has a sensor, so like it knows when I put it against my ear and cheeck, the screen blackouts atoumatically, and when you take it off your ear the screen turns on!

Yeah, I like that feature. My current phone, the first Huawei Ascend, doesn't have that.

    It's called a proximity sensor.

Yeah, but I'm not going to say that because people will look at me like I'm crazy.

I'll refer to it as "the thing that makes the screen light up when you take the phone away from your ear".
