Worked like a charm, it's about time I put a recovery on here since the smell of fresh baking ROMs is in the air :]

I'm trying to do this because yesterday my phone just started force closing EVERY app (including stock) and restarting itself. I'm not a noob at this, I've root several android devices before. Anyway I can do all the steps but when I get to the pink screen and change the image it doesn't seem to work. It still boots into android recovery 3, could it be because of a missing driver "Huawei Technologies"? I really need help with this, it's driving me crazy!!! Btw, I'm using W7 and I followed the instructions.

Hi. I can't get to step two. I powered the phone off, turned it back on, and the lock is on where I have to slide it over to unlock. I hold in the volume up and down button, but nothing. No pink screen. Please help. Thanks!

Your question has been answered in the thread you started, no sense in beating a dead horse and taking up space. Im not anyone special on here but I would say the mods and admins would like for you to post your questions only once so threads can be managed effectively and questions can be answered.

I'm not sure that I understand. I followed all instructions I got to the pink screen replaced the recovery image pulled the battery, plugged it back in and tried holding the volume up and power on. The first few times I tried this it just started normally. Then I got a blue screen.
*Yes I replaced it again right now I got the same thing. Does the phone have to be plugged in when you turn it on the second time with the volume up?

Ok so when you turn on using volume up in the last step, what should the phone do? How should it boot?

It should boot into Custom Recovery and you should be able to root it from there and also install custom Roms..

After booting into Pink screen connect your phone and ur PC should see it as a drive, Open image and replace the recovery with the recovery.img in the first post. unplug and reboot holding Volume UP key, you should boot in Custom Recovery...

If you have no computer you can still put the recovery using root explorer. But you need to root first. In order to root you need the recovery OR a computer

Soooo, I have this mercury...It does not erase data even after factory reset. It won't remember anything either. You take down the screen lock, after the reset, it is still there. Cannot install CW. Keeps giving me the factory android recovery. Has anybody had any experience working with this piece of underdeveloped android?
If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?

Doesn't matter. If root first, use the root method oriax made for a computer. if you do cwm first, just flash the fastroot file
