You can find his original thread here:
Mercury ics rom!!!
That being said, Welcome to ICS!!!
Things to know about Nightly Builds:
- Not Stable releases
- Will have bugs / issues
- Not intended to be used as main everyday ROM
- Are not Fully Supported like Stable Releases
- Should not be used by people that are not Masters of ADB
- You Should be comfortable enough to recover from soft bricks On your OWN
- 90% chance you will be wipping your data (factory reset) at some point and time
Recovery Required!!!
Need Recovery? Go here:
Custom Recovery by Salas
Make sure you have at least 66% battery!!! (Risk if not followed)
1. MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY ROM!!!!!
2.Flash the rom via recovery
IMPORTANT
3. After booting wait 10 minutes to let the rom settle in.
4.Enjoy testing!

If anyone wants to look at the "U8860" open source kernel you can go to tinyurl.77hurt3
Using Linux
ex.C8860
If you want to extract the "UPDATE.APP" thats in the dload folder you can try this.
To extract a UPDATE.APP from a Huawei device using linux;
Note: Put everything in the same folder
1.Rename "UPDATE.APP" to "updata.app"
2.Download these files
a.
http://www.zebadger.com/android/scri...lit_updata.txt
b.
http://www.zebadger.com/android/binary/crc
3.Rename "split_updata.txt" to "split_updata.pl"
4.Open Terminal and "cd" to the folders directory
5.Run in Terminal "perl split_updata.pl updata.app"
All done. Everything will be in a "output" folder.
You can then use the system.img and/or the recovery.img to play with.
To extract a system.img you need to have "unyaffs" and to recreate .img file "mkfs.yaffs2"
Open terminal and "cd" to the directory of the files.
Run "./unyaffs system.img" to extract the image to a new folder called "system"
to remake the image:
Run "./mkfs.yaffs2 system system.img" to rebuild the image.
I noticed that one Mercury's on 2.3.5 have alot of problems when rooting or gettings the custom recovery to stick.
While 2.3.6 has had no problems "to me so far".
I been trying to create a stock replacement but data is still a no go , also the keyboard will Forceclose even with the correct Permissions..
You can uninstall the keyboard and install an new one if you have it in you sdcard. Talk and text and everything else works.
BUT if you want to play with it then here you go:
Gingerbread Reinvented
Sorry if i dont post much anymore, reason:Job hunting is a pain here -_-

Alpha means that has lots of bugs that are being worked on.
Beta means most bugs are fixed and the rom is semi stable.
I havent been able to test these but i have been fixing errors as i go through everything. But thats why its in the alpha stages so that testers can play with it and report what and what doesnt work so it can be fixed in the next release.

So does this means an official 4.0 update will happen? If so, I'm glad I stayed with cricket. One of the reasons I was considering switching was that I really liked the 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich OS better.
