[CWM] Clockworkmod Recovery (Touch Based) for the Huawei Mercury m886/c8860

DISCLAIMER: This has been tested and is fully working, but install at your own risk! I am not responsible if you break your phone!!!!

I finally broke down n ported CWM for the Mercury myself since whom ever did the currently used cwm hasnt pushed to github n submitted it to koush.. This is built from the ics branch aka the base for the CWM Touch, meaning once submitted n officially built by koush CWM Touch should be available for those who choose the pay the $1 for it and have ROM Manager support.

    Installation Instructions

    1. Download
      CWM 5 recovery.img

    2. Turn the phone off, then turn it on while holding vol.up + vol down.
    3. The screen becomes pink, connect the phone to your PC via usb cable, usb drive will be mounted
    4. Find file recovery.img, place it somewhere safe. Copy downloaded recovery image to where the old one was, and unplug usb cable.
    5. Turn off your phone (pull out battery) and turn it on holding volume up.

    People to Thank

koush - for his kickass recovery.
    jonhaney - for the instructions.
    Romeo5k - for testing.

Any word on official rom manager support? I loved it on my OG droid. I miss it so much, if for nothing else but naming my backups

No. The touch part doesn't work, and thus defeats the purpose of this. Also the bottom buttons didn't work

It doesnt say its touch, but touch based, meaning that when it gets submitted n koush officially builds it touch will be available. You would know that if you READ THE OP!!!

other than that what doesnt work????

i have cwm touch on my Iconia tablet.. Its not that big of a deal and the Touch is very buggy. Taking the time required to use the touch function makes working in recovery more of a deal.. I prefer using buttons..
    just my thoughts.

Messed with it on the connect and it works great, not buggy at all, But I too like the traditional way better lol.

Lightbulb Mercury CWM buttons not working (FIX)

I had this problem too, where the power button just turned off the screen, and vol up and down, just changed the option, but I couldn't choose anything.

I'm not exactly sure how I did it, but somehow I got the settings of the buttons to change by enabling "Back menu button enabled".

I believe I did this by holding down vol up and vol down at the same time and pressing one of the screen buttons, or maybe by holding both those buttons down and pressing vol. up or vol. dwn repeatedly while holding the other volume button. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is don't give up, there IS a way to get the power button to change to the "Select" button instead of the "Back" button.
    Hope this helps someone!
