Will I still be able to use my ZTE Score As an android phone?

    Ok, first a little story...

Today i went on my phone and the internet and "my backup" were no longer working. I called customer service to see what the problem was and she told me that she had to take off "muve music" because the ZTE is "no longer an android"...

So she had me reboot the phone, and i was expecting "muve music" to be off of my phone... It was still there, i just didnt have access to it anymore (which is a bummer because "muve music" takes up alot of space).

I then decided to call again to see if there was a way to get the app completely off my phone (if i cant use it, then why should i have it on my phone right). The woman i talked to this time informed me that i could not take the app off, my plan changed to $45 a month instead of $65 a month, and i could no longer use "google play" or the phone in an "android way" because it was now a "feature phone" instead of an android phone... And appearently they started changing things up like this on august 19th...

Shortly after that i went to a cricket store and they where equally as unhelpful, however one girl did put my plan back $65 and access back to muve music... Which im not sure if it was a good idea or not especially since she said she doesnt think i can "use the phone like an android"

    Anyway now to my questions...
Is it even possible for them to block access to "play store" while still granting internet access?

    If so why would they?

How is the ZTE score "not an android anymore" if it still has the android os?

Will rooting the phone help me take off "muve music" app?

If i rooted the phone and took off the muve music app; should i go with $45 a month plan? (and would the cricket dealer care?)

***Also it should be noted that my phone died in the middle of all this (it is charging now) so i was unable to confirm many the "no access to google play" statement before the girl rechanged my plan...

Was your phone bought and activated before 8/19? I was told that the phone would still work the same if the above is true. I personally have not had any changes in my service but I've been on the smartphone plan since I got the phone. As far as muve goes it can be ditched once phone is rooted no prob. My stripped mod rom actually comes without any cricket apk's and the better half of the google apk's removed and runs great. As far as the blocking of google play goes I'm sure this can be done by their network but if using wi-fi it should still work fine as they can't control other networks and this phone is an android no matter what they call it. I think the funniest thing is that I went online to the my cricket website today and went through there process to shop for a phone and it actually says on there this is a muve music smartphone and the site was gonna let me order this phone with any of there phone plans including smartphone plan or the muve plan. I didn't buy it as I got no money but have been curious about this matter. Anyway I thought it was weird. I still think they should bring this phone back as an android in there system. I think it's a great phone but it seems as though the stock software is seriously flawed and slightly unstable. Nothing wrong with the hardware though it works as it's supposed to. I actually have no problems with my score at all I love my cheap ass phone. Of course I'm not running stock and so have absolutely 0 issues with the software. But this has just been my experience mileage may vary for others. Hope this helps

Yea i had my plan and a zte for nearly a year... though about a month ago, i lost my phone and got a replacement with the insurance...

So do you think that i should root my phone, ditch muve music (and other cricket apps), and go for the cheaper plan?

will this cause problems with cricket?

what if i mess up during the root process?

Was there a lapse in service while the phone was lost? Sorry for the questions I'm just tryin to figure out there new deal with the service on this phone. Seems pretty weird it still comes with muve apk but they won't let you use it. Anyway to your question I would say root, install custom recovery, and then install my rom as it comes without all the crap. Rooting is fairly easy on this phone and will not mess up service. I'm rooted and running my stripped blue mod rom and still on $55 plan with no problems at all. However there is always risk involved in rooting a phone and it voids your warranty so it's really up to you. However if you have windows and use zerg imo it's pretty simple and with not much risk. If your interested here's a link to my modified zerg root rush page that will also flash a custom recovery for you. I think this is the easiest way and another user here (also works for cricket) swears by it and has used it to root several scores without a problem. I would give it a try but ultimately it's up to you as it's your phone and your responsibility. With that said just let me know if you need any help or get stuck if you decide to root I'm always willing to help. Anyway here's that link. Hope this helps

    Modified Zerg Root Rush
Modified Zerg Root Rush to also flash recovery could use more testing

P.S. don't mind the title it's been thoroughly tested I just can't change the title.

Edit: I'm not sure on the phone plan issue I swear by the $55 plan but I've been told you can't put this phone on that plan anymore but if your on the $65 you might be able to sweet talk them into it. I definitely wouldn't use the $65 plan though as there's no real point without muve.

Wow this makes me nervous lol my 3G has been acting real buggy lately, normally I get above decent speeds, now its to the point i'm about to bash my head in just waiting to open an internet page, and I know I haven't gone over my 2gb limit, maybe I'm just being paranoid lol

just paid my bill yesterday. been on the 55$ plan for 6 months now. saw nothing that stated it had been reduced. will find out the 7th and see if they only took 45 instead. as for muve music i have had it gone from my phone since i got it. i just redid my rom last night after integrating the beats audio driver and the multi touch updates into it and had no trouble getting my contacts from my backup(not google backup but crickets app). as far as 3g data goes when did we get an upgrade from 1gig to 2gig?

    ZTE Score

Went to 2 gig a couple months ago. I was passing for the $55 plan with no Muve Music since December so when I made my last payment the guy told me I could get the $45 dollar plan and all I would loose out on its Cricket back up and still have access to unlimited everything. He made the change right then and I can't complain yet. Everything works. Even on 3G

welp cricket just updated there web page and apparently the only smartphone they have now. at least for my area is the blackberry curve. all the android phones are now considered muve music phones. lowest plan is 50 a month and supposedly has unlimited muve music. might have to load the muve music app back on my phone and drop the sdcard in just to see if it's accessable. and it's not. was worth a shot though. will have to go in and see just exactly what i will lose if i downgrade.

Has anyone gotten the email from cricket about trading up our phones? I got an email from cricket saying that they know I have a zte score and actually recommend that I trade up my phone due to future plan changes, if anyone has gotten this can you tell me what your trade up value is?

lol, at least for my area, it shows up as zero trade in value for the zte score and huawei ascend

$50 for the merc, $75 for the evo3d, $10 for the ascend 2, and just for kicks--- $155 for RAZR
