Netflix adds support for three more phones

    Netflix

just got itself a little update in the Android Market. First and foremost, new phones are officially supported, with the LG Revolution, Motorola Droid and Casio G'zOne Commando getting access. That brings the total number of supported devices eight, including the Droid Incredible, Nexus One, EVO 4G, T-Mobile G2 and Samsung Nexus S.

There also are a few bugfixes, including:

    • Fixed application failure on startup when phone's embedded storage space is almost full.
    • Removed check that prevented attempt to playback on unsupported devices.
And we've noticed that the volume's not as low as it used to be, so that's nice, too. If you've got one of the supported phones, get your download on in the Android Market. We've got links after the break.

It's too bad all the Android phones aren't supported.

    Some truly can't handle it.

    Here are the older downloads:

I'm still looking for the newest ones since I still can't find it in the Market with my Droid 2 on GB.

Please check the forum and post there before PMing me. I have over 674 unread PMs due to the fact that they are issues which should have been addressed here.

I think the main problem is with the DRM. I used to think, if Rhapsody can let users download songs on Android, why can't Netflix let users watch TV shows and movies? Then someone mentioned that it might be because Rhapsody is just dealing with DRM for the audio, and Netflix needs to deal with the video also.

Netflix does work on the Ascend, but you need to change a few things. I doubt it will ever be officially supported.

The Muve music system requires that they use a special MicroSD card to protect the media.

Netflix initially said something about how they didn't want to release it to subpar devices I think. You can only imagine the problems with people calling in and saying it's choppy or just low quality. They'd blame Netflix.

If they can release it to more handsets, I think they should do so, but have it in beta or something, or make it clear that it might not work good.

It works GREAT on the Ascend, which is a cheap phone.
