Please do! I'd really like to root my ZTE Score so that I can get all these demos & unwanted apps off. The internal memory is so small. I don't want to brick it, though, especially since this is my first smartphone, so I've been waiting for more folks to report that something works on it before trying.

Ok Here is what i did.. im on windows 7 64 bit. plugged phone in enabled debugging,
when auto run starts up run setup.exe...
it will intsall drivers there will be 2 that will take for ever when searching threw windows update.
at the bottom there should be a link that says skip searching for drivers threw windows update.. once you click that the drivers will install.

after that i just opened up zerg rush temp root and let it do its thing and after finished manually rebooted phone and bam have root access..

---------- Post added at 10:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 AM ----------

also i noticed the file says temp root.. i rebooted the device several times and still have root access.. not sure if its supposed to be a temp root but seems not to be the case...

Worked 4 me 2. Thanks 'johnjohnjohn19'. The first time I tried it it didn't work, a bunch of 'permission denied messages', so I updated my adb drivers. I also used a later version of 'adb.exe' than came in the zip file. Don't know which one did it but it worked. I AM ROOTED !! Had to reinstall 'busybox'. The program copied it over but it didn't show up as installed. There is an app 2 install it on market place 4 free. There is also an app called 'Root Check' 2 verify you have root and busybox. It's free 2. Thanks again !!!!!!!!!

EDIT: After rebooting and trying Zerg again, it worked. Now I can use my Dualshock 3 again, and remove this stupid preloaded junk. Why they force you to keep demos of games, and apps you don't want to use is beyond me.

Glad to hear some success stories! I'm still a bit wary, since I don't want to break my phone. Is there a way to reimage it if the root fails and causes issues?

    (Android n00b here, sorry.)

I extracted the iso that mounts on Windows 7. I mounted the iso and copied the driver installer to my Windows XP machine and it installed and worked really well.

I also extracted the entire app folder for anyone who wants the cricket apps.

I'll play with this thing some more tonight, I'm normally over at XDA but I will pop in here every now and then.

No problem. I'm kinda interested in making a custom recovery for this thing. After that it'll be rom time. I think I'll download ubuntu, any interest in a custom recovery?

I would love to get a custom recovery on it. I really want to backup the phone before I start removing apps you never know what is essential.

I'd like one, too. I was able to root mine - and finally got an app that would let me delete the demos they put on there, which is nice. I figured the demos would be safe. I backed up the apks too. Oh! Someone asked for the Muve Music apk. I got that. I'm not sure if there was anything else I needed to grab, but here it is:
Download MuveMusic_2.4.0.apk from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Working on the recovery. My ubuntu box was acting up, I got it fixed last night. I'll try to get it out tonight.
