Yeah, I used to stream a lot of radio but I've been near my laptop a lot recently. Also, when I'm throttled the radio buffers a lot which is sad. I did watch a little Netflix a while ago but I don't think it works anymore.

Has anyone tried calling Cricket an have them remove the throttle? I read that you can actually call them and have it removed (by paying more of course)

Ok, so im a complete andriod noob, but im thinking about getting the hauwei ascend 2. Now from what I understand there is a 1gb limit per month for use of the online capabilities before it slows down drastically. The main reason im buying this phone is because I want to play my video games online (Wii, and 3DS). And from what ive read I need to "tether" to create a hotspot to do this. So can anyone tell me how much gbs "tethering" uses?

    Couple notes:

    - the $55 Android plan has throttling after 1 GB. The average speed is + or - (1000 - 1200) kbps download before throttle and + or - 100kbps after being throttled.
    - the $45 plan does not have throttling. It's unlimited at a slower speed averaging + or - (400-600) kbps download.

I'm not sure either plan would really be fast enough for high intensity gaming, but I'm thinking the $55 Android plan would be the only one to get you close.

    Your problems or obstacles:

    - the 1GB data cap before throttling kicks in would last no time if you are gaming. You could go through it in a day or 2 easy.
    - I'm not sure if the Ascend II has tethering capabilities at this time. You most likely would need to be rooted for it to work.

So after I use up the 1gb (which will probably happen no matter what I do) the speed drops that much? BTW i have no idea how fast 1000kbps or how slow 100kbps is, but i dont think 3DS or Wii gaming is that "intense" where you would need that many kbps to keep it from lagging. Also does anybody have a hauwei ascend 2 to confirm if it can tether or be rooted yet?

Think of it this way... an avearge song lenght is 4 megabytes or 4000 kilobits and the highest speed cricket users have reported is about 1.4 Megabytes, if your speeds were to drop to 100 kbps even opening a web page takes forever. Now if you're playing DS its not as intense as playing, say Call of Duty but you WILL probably experience lag. Depends how long and what kind of games out play but you would probably go through one gig in a day or two
