My wife has the Engage and YES she's having a terrible time with the phone shutting off. It was doing it a few times a day now it's doing it every few minutes. I'm kinda piece working a repair that I found on Unleashed Prepaids so I'll post if what I do repairs the problem. Can't be having this thing shut off like this. First I rooted it, then I installed CWM Recovery and I'm off to find the next step.

In this case, you can just reset your phone to factory defaults which will solve the issue. If not, contact Cricket and send your phone for repair.

Mine got so bad it was shutting down every time I unplugged the charger. Battery life reporting seemed to be wrong also. It is a second hand phone and not under warranty, so I took it apart and the battery jack(the pins the battery contact) was loose. I lifted the jack gently to see that the solder that grounded it to the board had broken. I re-flowed the solder and put it back together and it hasn't shut down since. I guess that's why they're quick to just replace the phone when it's under warranty or covered by the insurance.
