Unhappy Galaxy s3: SD card DESTROYER?

Sorry if this has been discussed on this forum already. But being that I used the search function before asking, and no results came up, I'm assuming this is the first time this (huge,to me) issue is being brought up.

Ok now, nobody's a bigger fan of the S3 than I am being on cricket. The phone itself is fast, gorgeous, powerful. Truly the best cricket phone to date imo. But there is an issue that has arisen that has forced me to reevaluate my feelings of this phone.

I am looking to take this phone to as much memory as possible. Possibly with a 32gb or 64 gb class 10 sd card. Here's the deal though, I keep hearing from people (personally and on other forums) that this phone KILLS sd cards. At least in the international version anyway. I just want to ask any of you guys if you have ran into this issue at all on the cricket version of the GS3.

I don't want to spend 60$ on a sd card only to have it end up not working because of the phone I'm putting it in

What does the price of the card have to do with the problem being asked? Why don't you go to amazon and look up a class 10 UHSD micro sd card then come back here. My issue isn't with the price of the card. It's if the phone is going to render the card useless because of an internal hardware defect.

I've never heard of the S3 messing up a SD card personally. I run a 32gb in mine and haven't come across anything.

How long have you had the card in your phone? After a couple days of researching online and discussing it in the Phandroid and XDA Dev forums people have pretty much confirmed that this is happening and it is a hardware related issue. Not to scare you, I just don't want to waste money....

Re: Galaxy s3: SD card DESTROYER?

Bought my phone on the 22nd of December and put it in before I ever left the Cricket store... So 33 days and mind you I crack flash cm nightlies, download music, play graphically intensive games that cause the phone to heat up, and watch movies off my SD.

This sort of makes me feel better about buying a 32 gb card. Can I ask you what specific class do you have?

apparently the Class 10 32 and 64 gb cards have been crapping out pretty badly.

I don't really know if linking to another forum is frowned upon here so I wont do it. But if you guys doubt what I'm saying is true just google "galaxy s3 frying sd cards"

I ended up buying the Sandisk class 10 UHS1 64gb card and I've had it in for almost 2 months now. I play a lot of games like GTA3, a couple first person shooter zombie games(loving my MOGA controller), sync music, take photos, record video, etc and I've not had any issues so far. I have removed my card and used it in my multi reader and placed it back in my phone a few times with no issues either.

And probably should not use SD cards bought off ebay since many from overseas do not meet the class advertised. Recommend using H2testw (by Harald Bögeholz) to test card speed/class.

I'm a little late on this thread lol. But I've had my S3 (with Verizon, i535) since October, I use an 8gb class 2 or 4 idk. Not expensive. Constantly removing the card to use on a card reader for my laptop (well not anymore. I mainly use internal SD card now)
    No problems at all

I have had 2 S3's. One was on Verizon and the other on Cricket. I have not had an issue with SDCards on either. I did have a problem with a rebake of a CM nightly.

Keep in mind the international has a quad core not a dual core, along with other beefy hardware. It really is a different phone. Wait I retract that.... I think the Taiwan one has the quad core. I need to go refresh on the models at wikipedia.
