    Hard Brick/esn change

Well, I finally did it. I finally hard bricked my galaxy s3. It will not turn on or anything, black screen. When I plug my galaxy s3 into the computer the red light comes on for a few seconds and then turns off, it also wants to install QHSUSB-LOAD driver, but that fails. I do not even want to tell you what I did to hard brick it, cause I know I will hear it, "why would you do that" "what were you thinking", "you idiot", "newbi"...etc. I was doing some research today about a usb jig. Do you think that will work? For future mess ups. I plan on mailing my galaxy s3 to Samsung to fix it. I also paid for a esn change on cricketuser a few hours ago and I haven't heard anything back. I want to activate my old phone till I get my gs3 back from Samsung. I have also read on these forums of you guys bashing people on being to impatient on esn changes, so it has been a few hours and I am fine not having a phone for tonight, I just need a phone for work tomorrow. Also for the esn change, does cricketuser still do esn change? Do I have to be a supporting member to do a esn change? I paid the 7.50 but I will also need to change my esn again when I get my gs3 back from Samsung.

If you scroll up a little bit from my reply, you will see your original post. Scroll a little bit up past that and you will see some text that says Account Services Status - Not Processing. That means your ESN change isn't happening.

Everyone, but I want to hear the story of how you hard bricked the phone now.

    So please... Go on.

As far as the USB jig, it's only good if you have a JTAG unit which most of us don't have laying around. There was a guy that had me help him create a JTAG repair package for our S3 a while back and I think he was pretty cheap about fixing it.

Ok, I will tell. I installed some kernal without doing any research. I am still on the quest to increase my incall volume so that's why I installed this kernal to increase my volume. While the kernal was installing on my phone it went black. Only the red charging light came on for about three seconds when plugged in. Good thing I registered my galaxy s3 a few months prior and I was able to send my phone to samsung where they replaced to motherboard for free. Now I am scared to root or install roms ever again.....or in a few months.

Nope. Just a black screen. It wouldn't even turn on or even vibrate. I was watching some youtube videos of guys using usb jig to get hard brick into odin. If I could have gotten into odin then I could have installed stock roms. I might order a usb jig off of ebay, I think they for 2 or 3 bucks. I will have to search and find the kernal I installed so you guys don't do what I did.

Most people research what they are doing and read everything multiple times.

This is exactly why I tell you guys not to install things not made for your phones. :-)

I guess someone had to learn the hard way and make an example of themself.

Sorry it happened though. Maybe one person will be a lesson to the rest

For my case it was to install the kernal or throw my phone against the wall. My lg optimus c was so loud even on the lowest incall volume. Cricketuser did change my esn but it didn't work and I just told them to keep the 9 bucks as I already took my phone to a cricket store to get it activated. I ran into this problem before by activating my galaxy s3 from a esn change through ebay. Not only do they need the mein or whatever it is called they also need the serial from your sims card as well.

I honestly hope others will learn from this. There's a serious reason I tell people not to flash stuff from other phones and this is one of them. Something as simple as a call volume essentially caused this.
