Worked perfectly. Knox is probably tripped. I didnt check it but i dont care. Reportedly "Kingo" rooting doesnt trip knox on 4.3 but dont know about 4.4.2.

I'm not getting FC on screen saver or screen lock. Everything works great so far.

Before i flashed the 4.4.2 file with ODIN, i rebooted into recovery and wiped cache, wiped davlik and factory reset, then pulled battery & reinstalled battery, then rebooted into download mode so ODIN could work. Flashed 4.4.2., let it reboot, then in download mode with ODIN i flashed cf-autoroot, let it reboot, noticed the SU forced closed, then in download mode with ODIN flashed philz, rebooted, then rebooted into philz recovery and flashed the SU zip file. Some of these steps might have been done at the same time with ODIN but i choose not to.

there's a thread in the "root, recovery, roms and more "section that provides a link to Phil's recovery. I used the 6.41 version. You can find supersu in the play store.

Hello. I rooted my Galaxy S3 4.4.2 (Cricket) yesterday using the Towelroot method by geohot. Everything went smoothly, and so far I haven't had any problems at all. Avast detected Towelroot as a trojan, and after a Google search, I figured out what it meant and that everything was fine. I also read a blog on avast's website about it. My question is, do I have to have the app installed on my phone after I rooted my phone? And if I uninstalled, will my phone unroot?

I'm new to all these root, recovery, rom stuff, so, I'm still learning. Yesterday, I wanted to install Xposed Framework, but it was advised by the app creator on the XDA Forums to make a nandroid backup before installing the app and before backing up the system, custom recovery was needed. I'm still working on that and so far, I've learned that Philz' Recovery is the best option. Does anyone have suggestions with the custom recovery or should I go with Philz'?

I'd go with Phil's. That's the safe way.
