    TW Jellybean & Battery life

Hey guys, was using CM10.1, then using Mr Proffitt's awesome directions flashed back to stock through Odin, then did my update through Kies. Pretty cool, but my battery life has gone to shit. CM10.1 was clean and lean, never neccesary for me to kill any background apps or processes, and battery life was great. Now this update, has some things i really like, but there is just so much shit I don't want or need, crap running in the background. My battery life seems to have been reduced by probably 40%. I turned on the power saver, but still. I never used any app-killers, don't know if they are effective, but maybe someone can let me know the info on these, what are the best ones to use. Also, how to I keep all this crap from re-starting in the background- media hub, ChatOn, S-Voice, and such??? Thanks, and appreciate suggestions.

Give me a day or 2 and I'll have a solution that will satisfy the masses. I just finished deodexing the stock ROM and I'm going to test it for a bit. Then the next option is to mod it and place more of the bloatware and preinstalled system apps into /data/app so users can select what they want and what they dont't. Mind you I won't let you guys uninstall something important like the launcher, but I know a few apps that always run that can be taken out safely.

How bad are we talking on battery life? on the stock 4.0.4 i could get 2 days easy with moderate use...so far it looks like I'm going to be 3 days just from all the use I've had on it so far...

Well, I have a 4300 mah battery, and I am used to moderate to usually pretty heavy use from sunrise to well past midnight without any need for charging. But on my first day back to work after the update, I found myself with a dead battery before leaving work, and thats even without playing any games. The memory is also constantly loaded with shitty bloatware that wont stay dead, almost always on CM10.1 whenever I looked my processes were to a minimum with 500M in use. Now when I check there is about 1.1G in use, I go through and kill as much as I can, but they start back up. So today I am trying Easy Task Killer, not sure how much good it will do but we will see.

Battery life today was much more acceptable, running a task killer, and battery life extender. Thanks Stephen will download and install your deodexed TW with option to remove bloatware whenever it is ready.

I installed Easy task killer today and although it kills task and runs in the background they restart and the processes creep back up... had 868mb running in ram... killed down to 711mb and within an hour they are right back up... that app doesnt work.... maybe it needs to be on a rooted phone but non rooted its a waste of time and resources

Task killers are garbage. They cause more harm than good.

I've noticed... I uninstalled it... beings there probably wont be another update for this phone for quite a while i'll probably just root the phone and use a stock rom with all the bloat ripped out or root it and use something to uninstall the bloat

Shouldn't need that. Everything I put into the data folder from system is safe. Also pro tip I just figured out.... Drain your battery completely to the point the phone no longer comes on. Put it on the ac charger and leave it powered off. It will take about 6 hours to fully recharge.

I do this once a month. My phone has been off the charger almost 7 hours with moderate use and I'm just now at 67%

I also dumped the easy task killer, your right doesn't work satisfactorily. I'm happy with the zipaligned ROM, much better on the RAM. Still unhappy with battery life, will try Stephen's recommendation of a complete battery drain and recharge... I have cautiously deleted a few system apps that are annoying, but still have some junk. Having trouble finding and deleting the Media Hub, haven't been able to identify which to delete, doesn't seem to be clearly identified....

I'm pretty much unhappy too. Battery life is about a day less for me with the update. Newer updates are supposed to bring better battery life not less.

I'm gonna have to look into doing something to fix that. I wont use all the apps that are running now so I should look into getting rid of them and their battery draining abilities. I'm down to day days on a charge from 3 days...

Thats weird. I have 2-3 days on one charge with stock rom and only half a day on cm 10.1.

I'm getting 2 full days with minor phone calls and texting and little internet use... the same thing before the 4.1.2 update I got 3 days...

not a big deal but there are apps running I'll never use. Stock rom is fine for me so I'll either root it and uninstall the stuff I wont use or flash a rom that doesnt have that stuff in it...or not lol
