Google has already announced that the NEW Version of Android will have Built in Kill Switch?

    1. What does this mean?
    2. Can We wipe it from the system and use a custom rom for..... lost or stolen or even our own?
    3. What will happen if i lock my self out?
    4. who will help me get back in?
    5. will google support for android me as f***ed up as apple's with icloud?

Hmm a lot to think about from now tell then?

They say that the rise of theft for iphones has Droped like crazy, now no one wants to take one.

so bad that i dont like to BUY them used any more..

    1. Protects the Victom....
    2. Screws the Own.... poof i locked my self out now NO ONE CAN GET ME IN unless i have proof of purchess and a contract if im even lucky to remember my security questions!
    3. Makes buying and selling iphones on Ebay, craglist, store harder since its hard to know if its iClock or not since most websites wont tell you most of the time.

I guessing as wireless is changing so fast by 2015 used phones will be only for parts. Blacklisted is getting stronger all the time.

I wonder how they will accomplish it. RUU, SBF and ODIN do not depend on any servers to run. So even if a motorola phone is locked up, sbf-ing it will technically remove all user data. There is no central bank that verifies the phone prior to OS alteration. The only way, I would assume they could accomplish it is by locking down an NV item inside somehow (just like they do for the ESN numbers- which are still alterable in many instances).
If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?

perhaps new androids will need to have access to the internet to activate, like iphones. This is the sad state of America's cellular oligopoly. these measures are not meant to protect from theft, but rather they are meant to pad the bank accounts of stock holders and board members of the many corporations involved. funny how this get's rammed through, yet phone unlocking laws are at a stand-still.

Can someone here explain how the iphone kill switch works in NY? They say there is a 40% drop in iphone theft because of it. If its just a broadcast flag that kills it then get ready for makers will stop using esn databases to blacklist phones and will start killing them.
