That Bites, I am considering an AT&T Galaxy Note 4, no SD card blew me away from the Galaxy S6 (unless it's the 64 or 128GB model which I cannot afford)

Question: After a phone has been updated do the update data reside in the phone or on the SIM card?

If it's the phone, can a friend who has service with the phones carrier put his SIM card in my phone and update the phone?

On the phone. You might be able to update over wifi. If not then your friend will need the phone "activated" on his carrier. Or you can find the update file on the net and possibly flash it. Thats how I update my phones.

If that is possible for major updates like OS and Firmware which happens rarely it'll be ok, but not for all those app updates that happens almost daily.

Certain apps, like financial, I want updated, the rest I care less about.

I have a decision to make, get a S6 and live with 32GB of storage, get the Grand Max Plus and wait till the next major release. Perhaps Sammy will update the S6 with a SD card. Or get a GN4 and live without updates?

And then there's that switching camps and going with the IPhone?

true. too many android apps are constantly thrown out needing constant tiny fixes/updates.

...and shame on sammy for not putting a sdcard in the S6. Everyone wants to make locked down expensive phones, that when they fail, have to be thrown away and new phones bought.

You can still get the firmwares via wifi or with a PC using Kies.
My work on the CDMA Cricket S3 and S4 are now obsolete. Thanks for all the support when I was actively working on them!
