You must have skipped the part where I talked about the Galaxy Nexus not getting the incremental updates as soon as some other ICS devices... You think the Sprint version will be updated faster than the Verizon version? I haven't looked into it much, but I think VZW and ATT are doing way better than Sprint.

We hated the Gnex and had it on Verizon. Just sold it in fact. Screen was beautiful, but battery life was poor. Is it appropriate to call it battery life when you swear you can watch the battery meter go down?

    With stories like this:
Report: Google Planning Five New Android Jellybean 'Lead Devices' | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

I'd be a little concerned who will get priority when the next update strikes. ICS has been out since October 19, 2011. Gnex came out in GSM form on Nov 17, 2011. CDMA came out December 15th. Sprint of course was late to the party with a launch date of April 22. They kind of forgot to launch the network to support the 4G as well. So as of today (5/19) the Galaxy Nexus has been out in CDMA form for 30 weeks! Even though you're not asking for advice, I'd say pick another device and/or carrier if anything. Just not Sprint with the Gnex. If my traceroute is correct you're not in one of these cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and San Antonio. I bet Austin gets LTE before your city. How about the Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE at least? Despite how PCMag put living with the device and no LTE....

For now, the EVO 4G LTE runs solely on Sprint's nationwide CDMA EVDO 3G network, which is a lot like driving a 365hp Ford Taurus SHO solely on narrow side-roads with traffic. According to our
    Fastest Mobile Networks 2011

report, Sprint had the slowest nationwide 3G network, with average download speeds of 480kbps. If it helps, I got consistently faster 3G speeds on the EVO than on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the same location, though none of them were worth trumpeting about.
Wow... in other news I could almost buy 43 shares of Sprint for 100 bucks.

I guess I misunderstood the Nexus update part but thanks, that's very helpful to know. Now I'm considering the Evo, but I kinda really want that pure Google experience. I still have about a week of service so I'll really check all of my options before I choose, but I'm sticking with Sprint.

Sense 4.0 isn't bad. We have a HTC One X LTE.

You can be certain there will be a lot of dev support for the EVO 4G LTE. I bet someone will make an AOSP ROM.

Because I'm kind of a gadget enthusiast and I would like having the latest software if not hardware.

I just saw that this article from Wired says that the mercury will get ICS, and by the end of the month. What does this mean? "
You won’t find the latest Android version on-board. The Mercury runs version 2.3.6 Gingerbread, though Huawei says the phone will receive an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of the month"

Interesting. I love how no one ever talks to the forum. I think I spent the least time talking to Cricket at CTIA. For the rest of the people, I told them we run a CDMA forum :-).
