I'm being prompted to 'update' on flashed Droid X2 (Verizon)

Hi, around 5 months ago I flashed over my Droid X2 (Verizon) to Cricket using guidance & tools obtained from this great forum. It was quite a learning curve for me to finally be successful. Frankly I've forgotten most of the details by now however, since I don't tinker with it much like a lot of folks do. And I mostly use the device as just..well... a cellphone.

Last week I got a popup prompting me to accept an 'update'. The popup says it wants to Install Update 1.3.418.en.US.

-- (The phone currently shows system version: 1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US / Android version: 2.3.4)

-- I'm not too savvy about these things but it appears to be a 'system' update. So I'm wondering if it's being pushed by Cricket? -- or possibly by Verizon? (or maybe it doesn't matter... i dunno).

I've been postponing this because I'm uncertain of whether doing so might screw-up the flashover settings.
So my question is: Is this update safe to install?

IOW... if I accept this 'update'... will I likely have to then go back and re-configure things (or flash it over -again!) in order to make the device work on Cricket? I just can't afford to do something like that at this moment, cuz I'm about to leave the country for a couple weeks -- and I need to leave the phone with my mom for her to use while I'm gone. She *most definitely* would have no clue about what to do if it stopped working.

    Thanks!

    OH! -- Ok then! Thanks!

Sooo.... is there some way to make the update prompt 'go-away'' -- and don't come back!?

What plan are you on? If you are on a $55 android plan, nothing will erase. Even your apns for mms will be in place. Motorola devices are super nice about it (with the exception of 4G LTE ones). Now, if you used root method and all that stuff, then yeah, don't upgrade.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?

Hi Dina... good to see you again! -- but judging from your avatar... i'd say you're feeling about like i am! That's after running around for hours fighting friday-afternoon traffic in a frenzy... trying to take care of all the 'last minute' stuff for my upcoming trip.
-- I hate that part of try'n to take a vacation! LoL!

Well I'm afraid I did go the Root & 'all that stuff' approach. Quite an interesting process. ~ So I guess I'll just have to wait til i get back...then maybe i can invest a little effort into perhaps installing a custom rom.

    Thanks for the response tho!!
