    Root

im starting a rooting thread for the cricket htc desire c. there are many of threads for the gsm model but not the cdma. i have also backed up my stock ics 4.0.4 recovery.img for those who flashed the gsm verison and now have no recovery. here are some links. thanks to xda member Phil3759 for the superuser/busybox link.

Please note, this CAN brick. Do not proceed if you are not confident in your ability. Any damages caused are your own problem and im not responsible for any future issues caused by this process

    stock cricket golfc recovery.img and boot.img -
    Link

    cwm recovery -
    Link

    Root Superuser/Busybox flashable zip -
    Link

(Link from Phil3759 post on Xda forums)thanks

    Clean Golfc CWM Backup -
    Link

instructions: first flash the cwm recovery in fastboot
    fastboot flash recovery cwm-golfc.img
now reboot phone and hold down Vol down and press power to boot into bootloader then select recovery. once your in cwm recovery flash the superuser zip using the install zip option. after its done flashing you will now be rooted and have a custom recovery installed. have fun playing with your rooted phone. make sure to make a complete nandroid backup of your phone in cwm recovery and keep in a safe spot before deleting anything on phone.

htc never released the stock rom (ruu). I have a cwm nandroid backup uploaded to my Dropbox. I'll see about uploading to a uploader when I get a chance

Like others, I now have a functioning device again, thanks to you, Ironhide. During my attempts at resurrection, I turned it into a Frankenstein, though, so there are Verizon settings and such on it. I would appreciate a link to your stock nandroid as well, and since we are fairly close; the beer (or other preferred beverage) I buy you will be in person. Cheers from Mesa.

download the stock recovery/boot images from link above and unzip file. then flash boot image "fastboot flash boot boot.img" the kernel is built into the boot i believe. change name of boot image to boot.img or use "fastboot flash boot htcdc-boot.img"

Can someone help me with steps? I am unlocked, have the above recovery installed, pulled the backup and can restore but it still will not boot. Also getting errors when trying to fastboot stock kernel. Thanks for the help, there is no other place for cricket desire c help.
