I'm using Carbon ROM v1.6.1 (JB 4.2.2) which according to their page on goo.im is based largely on CM10.1 and is definitely AOSP. Normally when the phone boots it shows SAMSUNG in white letters for about a half a second, then goes black for a few seconds until the Carbon boot animation starts. I flashed the kernel and followed the steps to the letter and when I went to boot back up it showed the white SAMSUNG, then it showed the stock Samsung Galaxy SIII logo (which is very weird). Then the screen goes black but THE ROM CONTINUES TO BOOT. The screen is black but the buttons still work, and I can actually touch things on the screen! I just can't see what I'm doing. It also wiped CWM recovery so I had to flash Touch in Odin to be able to restore my nandroid (thank god for those). Any thoughts?

I was unable to recreate this error. Can you give me more info about how you flashed the kernel and which version of Carbon you're on(Stable or Nightly and which nightly)?

I'm running the latest stable release of Carbon from goomanager. I dled the kernel through Tapatalk, rebooted to CWM, flashed zip, cleared dalvik, fixed perms, then cleared cache. Rebooted and it was all wonky.

Gotcha... Will try that stable version as I grabbed the lastest Carbon nightly

    Edit:
I was able to recreate the no screen error, death. I have a feeling it's something to do with the fact that this stable release wasn't updated to use the 3.4 kernel. I'm also going to try and recreate the error on CM10.1 M2 which also didn't have the 3.4 kernel and if successful, I will update OP to reflect this. I will also work on getting a KT747 3.0 kernel built to work with these roms. Thanks for the input!

Cool, I appreciate your help with this.

Btw, do you remember in settings what it listed for Carbon version number on the nightly?

Edit: if the newest nightly is still version 1.6.1 I will probably flash that, so long as it's fully functional.

The 1.6.1 stable version is using a 3.0.66 kernel version so that is confirmed.

That's very odd. You're using 4/9/13 nightly of CM10.1 right?

Hold off... Let me see if I can recreate it and if an updated build will work. I'm about to boot over into Linux anyways to start working on a 3.0.x KT747 build for those guys using older roms.

Also, what scheduler were you using? I know you were using ktoonservative governor

    Edit:
Using ktoonservative gov and row sched I was able to use my camera @ 1890MHz with no modification to the voltages running CM10.1 4/9

I'm using 4/10 with same functional results.... Is it only with this kernel that you have issues?

yep...stock kernel works just fine. I even flashed 4/10, cleared cache/davlik, fixed permissions and still no camera. Everything else works great. Unistalled Quickpix just so that the default gallery will be used...

I did a full clean flash when I tried it... Maybe it is an app causing it.

What camera apps or mods are you using
