You unrar it. The archive is .rar and the file inside is the one you flash. You need both parts as I explained in the op

Ok. I am in desperate need of help here. I need my phone before tomorrow for work and I'm starting to feel 'root regret'. Everything was fine up until I decided to be cool and try and flash a custom ROM. Big mistake. Been nothing but tension, nervous energy and disappointment from that point on. I was so glad to find this thread as I think it's the course of action to get me from the non-working CM10 ROM back to the original stock rooted JB ROM I started with after successfully rooting my phone.

I went thru the directions, everything was going smoothly until I got to the step in odin where I press the PDA button and select the very large d2cri_RootedSystemOnlyJB.tar md5 file (that I winrar'd together into one giant file). After taking about 30 seconds or so I get this message in odin...

<OSM> md5 hash value is invalid
    <OSM> d2cri_rootedsystemonlyJB.tar.md5 is invalid
    <OSM> End...

Any idea of what went wrong or how to fix this issue? Please help!

---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------

EDIT: After doing some digging, via this thread, I was able to find someone with the same dilemma as I and it seems as though all I would have to do is erase the .md5 extension from the rest of the ROOTED JB file. After doing so, it reverts back to what looks to be a zipped file again. I went ahead and tried adding it thru the PDA button and it seems like it worked fine. Said 'ADDED!' almost instantaneously.. I stopped there though. Just wanting to get the ok from someone before I click the start button. Does this sound kosher?

EDIT2: After hitting START I realized that the 'ADDED!' notation just refers to ODIN and the phone connecting successfully (I gather)... I get a new error when trying to use that rooted jb file without the .md5 extension on the end.. The odin program itself gets as far as this:

    Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
    File analysis..

Then I get a nasty RUNTIME ERROR and odin stops working, has to be shut down..

Post #147 - try installing the "full unrooted JB tar" like i did, then root again.

Also if you're on Windows Vista or 7 make sure you run Odin as Administrator by right clicking the exe and select "Run as administrator"

Even if I run odin with as administrator I get a md5 hash error on all the links except the first one : FULL UNROOTED JB UPDATE INCLUDING KERNEL, RADIOS, SYSTEM, AND NEW RECOVERY: I am not even sure what I am flashing. Is this flash what came with the phone. I can not kies to work to get my phone back to stock. Kies always shuts down after it has downloaded the firmware. I just want to fix my volume problems with my phone, incall volume to low and now today on two of my calls, the volume went very low and then went back to normal. I just want to start fresh, even back to ice cream if I have to do. I just wish we had some links that worked. But this site has taught me many thing and has gotten me out of more than a few jams so I do appreciate everything you guys do.

Sorry if this is dumb but, my girlfriend got me this phone on the payment plan recently, it came with jb out of the box, I'm using the rooted jb Odin files. But it just hangs at NAND write start!! For like almost an hour...how long does this take? Is there any other way I can fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: my computer disconnected during the update, now it says I need to reconnect to kies (don't know what that is) but I tried restarting it with Odin and it says nand write start again...is this still fixable. My girl is gonna kill me heh

Just root it with my other tutorial. That's all the rooted stock file is anyways

I had a custom ROM and my back up was corrupt for some reason. I can no longer get to anything but the error screen that I'm at now with Odin sending the tar file...
