I unrooted to the md6 stock jelly bean rom, and I kinda wanted to root again. Would I need a md6 tar file?

Just wanted to say thanks. Had my GS3 replaced and it came with 4.1.2 so this was the only method that worked. Only trouble I had was finding the original drivers and had to boot phone normally to copy over root zip when connected to PC.

After step 2 on the jolly root when I select the "apply from external storage". I highlight d2cri_JBRoot.zip, select it. It says "verification failedvev " in red. No Root, Is there something wrong with the zip file?

Did you select only md5 verified?
    And what recovery?

For those of you who are having verification failed, it sounds to me like you're using stock recovery still or you have a bad download.
My work on the CDMA Cricket S3 and S4 are now obsolete. Thanks for all the support when I was actively working on them!

Good point SP. I will admit, Stock s3 recovery looks like cwm. I did make the same mistake. I thought I was on cwm by the looks, but it was still stock recovery. I flashed twrp and used the same file to get root.

    Sent from my durty S3

Also I updated the OP with a more recent CWM touch for the S3. Enjoy!

Because the cri in d2cri stands for cricket. This is not to be confused with the critter, criminal, crippled, crib, crispy or critical line of phones.

Worst thing Ive ever done was to root my cricket GS3 SCH=0530 4.1.2. I too had to use the very last step involving removing the battery. Now the phone periodically crashes and reboots perpetually. Removing the battery only stops it sometimes. Im going to have to unroot. Can I?

CRI was easy. But D2 is what concerned me.

My experience is just the opposite. Rooting my S3 was the the best and easiest thing i've done including flashing SP's vanilla rom. I tried some of the other earlier roms but SP's rom just floats along for me. I have big hopes for Android Titan's rom too.

It sounds like the recovery issue described in the OP. And yes, you can unroot.
