    Broken usb connection s4

Hi guys.. So I plugged my S4 into my laptops USB port tonight to do some file transfers, and discovered my phone is not being recognized as a drive. Since i've never run into this problem before, I could use some expert advice.

I already tried using another cord, and uninstalled the Samsung Android drivers from device manager, then plugged in and they apparently re-installed just as before. I checked my settings in my phone and made sure USB debugging was enabled in developer options. I did notice there was no option to connect as a media or photo device like I remembering there usually being, I just don't recall if it has never been present with the S4, I haven't had it that long.

So I tried this and that, with no phone drive and directory appearing in my PC directory. So .. I'm all ears, lol

    Thanx

make sure it is not in diag mode. Dial ##DMMODE# and dm has to be disabled.
Just to be clear, it is not recognized as an "Unknown device", correct?
Also, to be on a safe side, transfer your files to your sd card using Astro file manager.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?
