Can you root through odin flashing a custom recovery, then through custom recovery flash su.zip. Reboot then open su app?

2 hours!😨 I have read alittle that 4.4 breaks odin. I mean you can probably install with odin but I don't know of odin works on 4.4 after that. How was the update? I have read alot of people dislike the update do to not allowing apps to write to sdcard and such.

I rarely ever write to SDcard anyways so that is an issue I dont see myself facing lol.. It looked nice. My main reasoning for kitkat is the new Google Camera. Fucking love it. 35 minutes bro and Ill let you know if it works fully. I know I tried shabbys way of rooting and it said something like unable to something.. So I think we might see what we saw on 4.4 cyanogen.. That the system folder is r/o and has to be changed to r/w before anything can be done to it. I just hope this doesnt prevent root. I tried the Philz and TW recoveries to root too and idk they got stuck at samsung screen. we'll known more soon. Even if I break my phone from throwing it into a wall, Im not big on warranties so I'll push my phone to the max just to get info on it lol Knowledge is power :P

When i bootlooped after first boot into recovery i had to battery pull then boot into recovery again. Im with you on the warranty I feel that alot of warranties are a scam anyways. Did you update to 4.4 through kies? How can I get the update? Im stock 4.3 rooted so ota is a no go.

Did you use Kingo to root? Could always use it to unroot. Or, you can download the stock 4.4 odin in my other thread. Its worked for me. I just got done installing it. I think Kies may even install it even though your rooted but im not sure on that. Personally if I were you, Id go the odin way as it is fresh and clean

I used odin to flash philz recovery, booted in recovery flashed su.zip file. Rebooted then opened su app and was prompted (pop up window) to disable knox.

You did this on 4.4 or 4.3? If 4.4 you might wanna post that su.zip since others might be able to do it.. didn't work for me like that..

I did that on 4.3 this is the su.zip. I think I had to go into app store and update before open.

I would odin it. Can you make a tutorial on how to odin the firmware? I've only odined recoveries and am not sure if its the same process or if I put the file in the same location. I mean I understand how to get into odin mode and all that im more worried about where in odin to place the file.

Just place it in AP or wherever recovery goes.. it'll lag/program will become unresponsive. It's just loading the file. It's a big file.. then hit start.. I'll update my stock 4.4 thread in a bit with a guide..

Sweet thanks alot man. Maybe on my day off ill odin to 4.4. Or I may wait until a root method comes out. I guess once you go to 4.4 you can't odin back to 4.3. Assuming knox's trolling behavior is persistent.
