With the SGS4 samsung has introduced a setuid kernel, which will block root access. you will need to flash a source compiled kernel in order to fully root or use SuperSU (which is why ive provided that ).

garwynn has posted CM10.1, AOKP, and paranoid android. more will come as soon as you guys have official status on cm. many other roms watch cm's stuff and will add in support just based off that. as far as touchwiz roms, you can flash a sprint or us cellular rom, but it will require a bit of modding to make it work, so until more is known id suggest holding off on that aspect. someone who has this device will make a tw based rom for yall in time im sure

This one is all shabby. All I did was test his recovery. It's the same method as rooting the GS3 though

Well, then, I'm glad I have gold on my S4! Now just to pick a ROM... or I might just wait to see what else is coming through.

Once I boot into recovery, I'm presented with a menu of options. Which one of these do I need to select?

    Thanks!

13 once you have booted into recovery it will handle the script that installs stock recovery if its present.

when you try to leave recovery it will scan a few things, that script, if you have root, if permissions are properly set on root etc to make sure that you dont have any issues that you may not be expecting

Okay. So I selected to reboot and it asked me if I wanted to root my phone. It mentioned that rooting could not be undone, so I selected no. The phone booted back to the normal home screen.

    I didn't notice anything about a script.

    Does this sound right?

    Thanks.

yea, sounds like recovery didnt detect the script, but it found you werent rooted had you picked yes it would have installed koush's superuser binary and just installing superuser from the market would have made you fully rooted
