Pros and Cons of Rooting an Expensive Phone?

    Hello Everyone,

I typically root my phones the moment I get them home, but I also typically buy the cheapest phone that doesn't completely suck. I got tired of having lower end phones and this time went for the S4. Now I find myself contemplating, is it worth rooting a $600 phone? What can go wrong? Is it worth the risk?

Having rooted several phones already, I know the risks to the phone itself are very low, but I also have a bad habit of dropping phones in water (my Mercury lived through more accidents than I can count). I've bought the $10 a month insurance plan on it but I still wonder:

Will rooting it void the manufacturer warranty?

Will rooting it prevent the insurance from covering it?

What are some pros and cons to rooting the S4?

I discovered today that UMS can only be enabled with root access, so there's one point in favor of rooting, what else is there?

I contemplated the same myself and finally was sick of limited functionality pretty much the stock default crap and I rooted I sometimes sit here and wonder what the heck I did but I am happy I did.

I pay for the insurance so I figure if something does go wrong and warranty is void ill make it a good wrong so its not recoverable and just start fresh.
