Unable to root samsung galaxy s4 with october update!!! Please help!!!

Has anybody been able to root with the R970CVVUAMI3. I have this update on my phone and cant get my phone to root at all. I tried the shabbypeguin method it is unsuccessful. Do anyone know how if I can return to R970CVVUAMF5 as I was able to root succesfully with this firmware.

Are you referring to the MI3 update?

    Edit:
I installed the MI3 update and was able to root the same way I have been using the recovery root method.

Maybe some more details would be beneficial.

Yes, the MI3 update. I followed the steps in the recovery plus root thread and when I get to the recovery screen it asks me if I want to root i click yes and the phone reboots. i then go back into recovery to install the superuser zip. superuser installs on the phone but when i try to use titanium it says that i am not rooted. when i tried to open the superuser app it said something about su binary needing to be updated but it would fail and give some kind of error message.

Okay so you have recovery flashed. Install the SuperSU zip from here:

Did the update include anything special? I'm running stock rooted and I would like to update.

As far as I can tell there weren't any major changes. Few optimizations and what seems like a kernel that supports 4.2 and 4.3 but I'm not sure until I can find a 4.3 TW rom that will work

Speaking of the MI3 update, is there a MD5/SHA1 checksum available? Tried searching but was unsuccessful.

^^Good Point. I keep forgetting odin verifies md5 when opening up the files. Force of habit to do a manual verification before flashing anything
