root it, freeze the bloatware, install a different launcher, then freeze the stock launcher: like this.desktop-copy.jpg

I am using next launcher and the sense clock widget. There are a lot of good launchers out there. Comes down to a matter of personal taste.

Okay, great. How do you do that? I hate to sound like a broken record, but the method described in the stickied thread isn't working for me and nobody has responded to my post there asking how I might root this phone, otherwise.

All the information I can find on this subject is either outddated, impossibly vague or contradicts other things I have have read. Is there any definite, step by step way to get this phone rooted or should I just give up?

Do you have a link? I followed every guide I have been able to find for flashing twrp and it just goes into standard recovery. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
