    TWRP 2.5.0.0 (a functional recovery)

**standard disclaimer, follow at your own risk**
To be honest, I did not create this recovery. I did however, soft brick my phone and that "nothing to lose" feeling got me testing this. Anywho, here it is (Thanks goes out to seishuku of TeamUSCellular)
    -Original thread:
    TWRP 2.5.0.0 - Axiom ROMsKernels/Mods - TeamUSCellular

    -Galaxy drivers -
Support - US Cellular SCH-R830 | Samsung Cell Phones

(hit or miss from what is being reported, so try sIII or Axiom drivers. I recommend Axiom)
    -TWRP -
    TWRP-2.5.0.0_r830

    1. download necessary files (of course)
    2. install drivers, step 9 will determine which ones you need
    3. unzip odin3, and run Odin3-v3.04.exe (grant administrative rights when prompted)
    4. turn the phone off, then in this order, press volume down, the home button, and then power
    5. release after 5 seconds. press volume up when the disclaimer pops up
    6. plug usb cord in to phone from PC
    7. select the check box next to PDA, then select the PDA button
    8. navigate to wherever you put TWRP-2.5.0.0_r830.tar, open file
    9. select "Start" at the bottom of the Odin3 window
-i didn't mess with any of the other boxes, i recommend following that course of actionthe phone will reboot normally into android. to access recovery, power down, and press volume up, home and power, in that order. release as soon as you see the blue text at the top of the screen saying booting into recovery, or something like that. and bam, recovery!
with that said, can someone create a stock backup and upload it for me? it seems i am stuck in this soft brick until someone can help me out. Samsung and cricket have been fails, for stock firmware files. Please and thank you!

Does this method for custom recovery work on the SGA2? Has anyone tried it?

Yes this method does work. I've used both the cwm and twrp recovery. In my opinion twrp is better than cwm.

Nope. That is the stock recovery number. TWRP has a nice blue & black splash screen.

CWM the interface is goofy. it works but the interface jumps around all goofy. I tried it first but it was buggy so I flashed TWRP instead.

Okay, so why isn't it booting into TWRP after following these instructions? I'm having the same thing happen that catman25 is.

I tried the method for rooting in the sticky and now I've tried doing it this way and nothing seems to take. I'd love some assistance if anyone has some advice for me. I really would like to get rid of some of this bloatware if it's possible.

You can try flashing cwm using odin, then shut the phone down (not restart), then go back into odin and flash superSU, then shut it down and boot into cwm and flash the twrp zip file.
