I definitely don't believe they aren't making any money off the phones. Secondly one phone or another is almost always on sale. Lastly. I don't want a free phone but even paying a 150$ to get a 200$ phone is a little ridiculous, then what is the point of insurance if your basically paying the whole thing yourself. Like a previous comparison. If you pay full coverage on your 30,000$ car your definitley not paying 29,500k in insurance premiums then a 500$ deductible to get a new one.

You not believing it doesn't change the fact.
Have you ever looked at what phone's cost from the big 4 out of contract? In a newspaper ad today was the new Samsung AT&T android for $49 with a new or renewal activation. Out right it was $549. So are they still making money at $49? They are subsidizing due to the contract but Cricket does that too. Try buying an LG Optimus out of contract at any other carrier. It's more than 199.99.

How is paying $150 the same as 200? Thats 25% less!! How is that not a good deal? $85 for a new phone is a bad deal but $200 isn't? Math challenged?
And your car analogy is pretty bad. No one anywhere pays 29K premiums on a 30K car.

obviously you didn't read my analogy very well. Of course no one pays that high of premiums on their car so why with premiums and deductible would you pay that much on your phone.

It's wrong to report a device lost or stolen if it really wasn't..
Exactly, some people are just immoral, bro. Unfortunate but true.

She claims she "found it" but was actually trying to activate it for her other daughter who never had an android.

She took it to a FSCS and they actually did it for her..

An item that costs 30k is hardly the same comparison as a $200 item. Insurance on a car NEVER comes close to the cost. Plus the phone insurance is optional.

But please explain how $150 is not better than $200.
