Yes. You need to be rooted cuz you have to modify a system file to turn on hidden menu.

I just had a factory refurb sprint note 3 flashed by cricket at their store. Everything works ok except that everytime I turn it on it trys to do a handsfree activation back to sprint. After 5 trys it stops and removes the sim card from the OS. It seems like the 3G is working even when I take the sim card out but I cant get the sprint activation to stop on boot.

Hope you can shed some light on this

I stopped it on my brother's phone by rooting it and removing all of the Sprint apps

Try rooting it and removing the system app that activates it... or by installing a custom rom...it will fix the issue

Here's the "proper" way to fix the Hands Free Activation nag on Sprint Galaxy S4 and Note 3 phones:
Galaxy S4, Note 3 - Update Profile/PRL/HFA Fix for Sprint, Boost, Virgin Mobile, etc. - xda-developers

I don't believe Cricket is a Sprint MVNO, so don't run Update Profile / PRL as instructed in the steps. Not sure running those will work or break the phone. It fixes the HFA nag for sure.

Hopefully I didn't break any rules by linking. If so, mods, please feel free to remove the link.

Thanks so much. I took the first step and rooted my phone but I don't have access to another sprint phone. They are kinda mad at me I guess here at the local store for going with Cricket instead of them and not helpful btw. All I need to really do is download the carrier-note.zip file at the bottom of that page and overwrite omitting 1-4 right. first time doing this on a phone so making sure

Correct. Again, no need to run Update Profile / PRL after the exercise. Remember to backup your /carrier folder just in case.

TWRP will not backup the /carrier folder. You can instead use ES File Explorer (after enabling root) to copy the contents of the /carrier folder to your external SD card.

I finally got it properly rooted after SuperSU updated itself and I pasted the extracted zip file from that link replacing the original and it still does the HFA, any ideas????? What program initiates it?

Install titanium backup and freeze all of the apps that start with "Sprint" and also the voice app. Freezing an app does not delete. You can unfreeze it at any time and it will show up again in your app drawer.
