Questions on voice mailand recording calls

Does anybody know an app that will enable me to record incoming phone calls if I wish? Also, Cricket's voice mails seem to erase automatically after a week, I get voice mails from telemarketers and want to be able to retain the recordings, does anybody know how I can do that? Thanks in advance.

There are many voice recorder apps but you usually need root to work right. Yep, I froze the cricket voice mail app.

I appreciate your reply, but I don't understand it. Root? Also, does anybody know how to preserve voice mails longer than a week?

root - you need to run a "root" program on the phone software that will unlock some software/hardware protected areas in the phone.

Oh, I see. Nothing can be done to save voice mails, however? My last 2 phones had either 25 total messages allowed, no time limit, or on the other one, it warned every 30 days that a message was about to be automatically deleted, but you could save it for another 30 days by pushing 9. Why would Cricket have a feature where they decide that 1 week is long enough for you to have a voice mail message?

Because they are low budget and dont want the overhead cost and headache keeping track of volumes of messages for long periods. ...and its a perk not making them money.
