    EVO 4G Project

Hey guys, I am with a cricket premiere dealer here in St. louis. I have successfully flashed an evo 4g with cricket, data works properly (very fast actually) and would like to try to get the calling \ txt to work. i have been focusing my attention on the PRL's, and would like some suggestions \ help getting these things going. we have access to everything so making changes and understanding the service is no problem here. lets get these triband areas working!!

we followed this guide exactly, so currently the phone is fresh from the switch to jiminy cricket. open to suggestions tho, we are willing to be guinea pigs with this one.

    No problem.

I meant the tabs/settings other than what they tell us to change, such as Settings, System, 1x/HDR Security, Data, NAS, Security...
Leaving off items that are specific to your phone/number, but I'm really interested in the general settings

Hey all, I think that Ive done everything right as far as following the tutorial. While messing around with the phone, I noticed that I can't get the WiFi to work. I think I've tried everything! I've been able to get the phone connected 2 twice in 2 days. But that's after constantly playing with settings. When I have been connected, its super fast. but when I power it off and restart it, no more. Even though it says that I'm connected and shows that my home signal is strong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's really weird, if anything, the wifi should always work, even if your CDMA/provider settings are jacked up, hell, even if you don't have service on the device, wifi should hum along happily.
Silly question, but is anything else in your house using wifi, and is it working OK? I assume yes, but if not, let us know.

Next, I'd suggest getting wifi analyzer:

Wifi Analyzer | AppBrain Android Market

See if any other networks in your area are on the same channel, and consider moving your router to another if so, it's possible that's causing connectivity issues for your EVO (I'd expect it to cause issues with your other devices too, however, the EVO does have a smaller antenna...)

This link will help you decide on a channel to use:

What channel should I choose for my wireless network? Wireless Networking Forum FAQ | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

(strongly suggest reading it before picking a new channel)

Another question, have you been able to try to use the EVO on another router, other than your home one? That would surely be an important troubleshooting step. If the EVO fails to work on anyone's router, we know we should focus our efforts on that end.

    -Chris

Thanks for the quick response! yes, everything else is working fine. My neighbor has an unsecured wireless connection and the same happens when I get on that one too. i guess I could try the Wifi Analyzer, but know that my girl has the fascinate and gets Wifi fine.

yeah, give it a shot, at the very least, getting on a less crowded channel can only help.

Might also be worth trying a different wifi manager app, rather than the one that's built in. I don't have any suggestions on that though (unless wifi analyzer will do it, not tried with it)

What versions of stuff are on the thing?
Settings > About Phone > Software info (may differ depending on version)

I'm short on ideas, but the extra info may help

nothing weird in there really. Might be worth it to try different radio and PRI versions:

    [ Radios ][ 5-6 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI, NV & HBoot versions - xda-developers

Some people have had issues with the newer 1.90 PRI (usually heat/battery life problems though)

If you're not too comfortable with that yet though, I'd wait and see if anyone else has other suggestions

Okay to day I started to play around with the EVO again to get my wifi working. So i went into settings and turned on the Sprint hotspot, then tried to access the internet... Nothing. went back into it, uncheked the box and it works every time with no problem. I don't know what kind of hiccup it had, but it seems to be gone now. I don't know if this will help anyone, but it's worth a try for anyone having the same issues.
