    Evo 4G with 2.3.5 Gingerbread and Hboot 2.18 s-on

I just found out tonight that the Evo 4g that I picked up has been OTA updated to firmware 2.3.5 with the new Hboot 2.18 with S-on,
Am I totally screwed now when it comes to rooting and flashing roms?

    at least flashing them easily?

Can the phone still be flashed normally and then rooted at a later time?

If I can flash it fully now and then root it later will that mess up the flash?

revolutionary DOESNT work on the new HBOOT 2.18... I did one yesterday. its hella easy. just look on xda for the files, in the evo section. you have to fastboot the recovery and go in recovery and flash superuser. its still going to be s-on after that, but atleast rooted, and then you can run the ruu and downgrade hboot and use revolutionary, or i believe unrevoked. if you still want s-off..

I read how to do it and it looks easy enough, I believe the only method to obtain s-off now is it reverts it back to Froyo 2.2, If Im on Froyo 2.2 and rooted I'll still technically have Gingerbread contained on a custom rom. correct?

Anyone has that problem? I try to update it from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 and It won't work! It froze after it restarts! I'm rooted at 2.3.3!

If you do get it to update to 2.3.5 you may completely lose your rooted state on the phone and you will lock the boot loader of the phone. If I were you I would not care about the 2.3.5 update just use custom roms that have the update already implemented into it no need to to do a stock Android update at all.
