help!! Problems connecting Evo to my computer

I'm tryin to root my Evo but the problem is my computer nor my Evo will recognize that its plugged in. The phone charges and the usb cord is the original HTC, I know the cord works because I've used it on another Droid phone. I've tried different ports and a different computer. Does anybody know how to fix this??

The phone should still be able to draw power from the USB cable, even if the computer doesn't have the proper drivers installed. Could be a faulty/damaged charging port on the phone, bad USB port on your computer, or a bad cable.

The cable is good I used it on another Droid phone and the computer recognizes it as a driver. I think it might be my phones charging port. Would cricket fix this or should I take it to an independent phone repair store?
    -Thanks for the replies

It not a cricket phone and they would have the parts for it. I think but it never hurts to call and ask the store.

The thing I do is I that let all the driver load to the computer. First the one without usb debugging and with it. Then, I dial ##3424# and change the port to one under 25. Am done
