    HTC EVO w/ 2.3.3

I'm new to the forums and I've been reading around and I just bought a HTC EVO.

It currently has Andriod 2.3.3 with HBOOT 2.16
From all I've been reading is that the Gingerbread has not yet been rooted.

The tutorial shows the EVO has to be rooted

    My question is:
Can I still flash the EVO to work on the Cricket network without having root access or do I have to wait until it comes out?

If I can, will it work on the $45 plan?

    Thanks for your help

You can flash it to work with Cricket. and use talk and text with the $45 but in order to get data you will need the $55. Also MMS won't work unless are rooted.

There have been people that have gotten MMS to work IIRC. APN backup and restore does not require root, and I don't think the MMS.apk needs to be replaced.
Please check the forum and post there before PMing me. I have over 674 unread PMs due to the fact that they are issues which should have been addressed here.
