After 2 days of googleing, reading posts everywhere, and trying so many ways to do this ; finaly i got mine rooted !! :P .Just like the other post read,i just installed CWM v4.0.1.4 made a custom back up ofcoarse first. Then Dloaded Fastroot but wasn't the new one i seen today it was the Fastroot.zip, not the( fastroot.exe modefied with tools).Don't know if that one works just didnt see the post till now ..followed the instructions and also the other post where you have to finish the last step of the rooting by copying the .zip file in the fastroot folder to my SD card. Then having CWM finishing the root process. Thanks so much to all you guys, and the developers, and to the posts.finaly i can sleep now lol..Good night,Good luck,And AMEN

I get my mercury tomorrow. Once I debug I just open this and click the options to root and recovery and that's all? Was going to do it the FastRoot.v3 / recovery.img way but this must be the latest? Am I correct? Will definitely donate if this works.

So I'm thinking the best way to root my phone today is to:
    (1) titanium backup all system apps (this may not be necessary?) and User apps to SDcard from my old Indulge,
    (2) activate mercury by dialing *228 (therefore deactivating my Indulge),
    (3) In Mercury... Applications> Development> USB debugging, Applications> allowing Unknown Sources and connecting to computer via USB,
    (4) Root Mercury via Fastroot PLUS Toolbox after
    (5) Install Titanium backup from market to rooted Mercury,
    (6) Batch restore all User apps via Titanium Backup

    AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

I was talking about backing up my current phone apps and data on my Indulge, so to transfer to mercury and not start from scratch.

How do you mean? This is referring to using Fastroot Plus Toolbox to root My new mercury. Will this method work?

I'm just getting started in learning to root (Huawei Ascend II M865 2.3.6). After much searching, it seems this method will be the one I use to root my Ascend. SuperOneClick hangs on Step #7 (no clue why).... Will this tool (Fastroot) erase data from the phone? If so, how do I make a backup?

Also, upon running this tool, what are the steps in order to go from stock to rooted? I have a lot of data, and I'm afraid I might mess something up.
