Also, upon running this tool, what are the steps in order to go from stock to rooted? I have a lot of data, and I'm afraid I might mess something up.
No data will get deleted from the phone, (at least not that I'm aware of) and yes this will work on most androids. You can't really make a backup unless your rooted lol chance but worth it.

I just downloaded this app and it does nothing but show a black command prompt, OP perhaps I am opening this incorrectly? Can anyone verify this working and what OS they are using?

    Windows 7.

Do you have a antivirus on? In the first post it says to disable it when you run this script. It's a exe file so it'll run like any other software on the computer. Try right-click open as admin.

Thread drift but yes it is an Android phone. More specifically "The ZTE Chorus is an interesting Android-based feature phone". There are some good reasons to do this. One of my favorite is that people will most likely mess up an Android phone and blame the carrier/manufacturer.

    Only one little problem....

My 2.3.6 ascend 2 m865C WILL NOT go into fastboot/bootloader mode. No matter what amount of time the volume button is held with the power button. It just goes right past the white Hauwei screen. It will go into recovery mode...easily. Just not fastboot......So, this amazing tool you have made doesn't work for me. Volume DOWN & power for fastboot and volume + and power for recovery....correct??

    I'm LOST !!!!!!!!

I did it 2 days ago without a problem. Just try the application, go to root then ascend 2. Then cwm recovery. Follow the EASY few instructions it gives. There so no fastboot screen or anything. It'll stay on Huawei logo. People who don't follow the instructions will not get it rooted so they start new threads (waiting time) when they end up here or downgrading eventually.

I used this to root my phone a couple weeks ago. I just wanted to say thank you. I had tried multiple other ways and they never worked. Also thanks for the proxy flasher and the titanium backup installer. My sisters phone will not sign onto the market period. It never has. So i installed z4root. Rooted it, then used titanium backup to take off the pre-installed apps.

On Ascend 2 and the fastroot.zip method is not working at all. It will not push to the card, or reboot to recovery. CWM is installed, and I tried manually flashing the .zip, but that did not work either. Any suggestions, and what screen do I need to be on when using these options, assuming user error here.

Was the phone on, debug mode, and plugged in when you tried pressing the fastroot on the program?

You can manually copy fastroot to the sdcard, boot into recovery , mount system , then install zip.
