Computer not recognizing htc evo 3D at all?

***Computer not recognizing htc evo 3D at all...no noise no NADA!***

    Hi Good morning,

Well I just got a htc evo 3D. I was trying to do the flash but my computer won't recognize the phone, it just charges it. I'm using the USB cable from my htc evo 4g, i don't know if that has anything to do with it.

The USB cable works fine with other phones. I tried putting in debug mode but nothing.

Any suggestions? I'm running out of options...is it the cable? Does the htc evo 3d use a different cable?

    Thanks

try a different computer and a different cable, not at the same time of course. Basic troubleshooting, eliminate each element by replacing it with another.

If it's not the cable or the pc, you might have a bad port. That seems unlikely because it charges, but I've seen it.

ok. So i tried on my laptop (windows 7) same usb cable. Nothing happen just charging. I downloaded the driver and nothing. Hit ##3424#, turn it off, rebooted and nothing yet.

    anything else?

The computer doesn't even recognize a device being plugged-in...NADA it doesn't even notify me on the phone...it just automatically starts charging and thats it. I have the option, "ASK ME...USB connection type...blah blah"

BTW, thanks for your active help. Hope we can figure what this is, the phone is really new! u think it might be a bad port? Seems odd. I don't another usb at the moment, maybe ill try that.

If HTC DIAG doesn't come up or HTC MODEM, then something is wrong. It usually pops up with an exclamation mark in device manager and at that point you have to associate the appropriate drivers with it.

If you're tried more than one than then that's probably not it. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

    Hi ok,

I'm back on the job. I ran the Hboot and on the top of the screen, in highlight pink, it says "LOCKED", You think this might have something to do with the connection?

    thanks

OK, here is the pictures of both htc evo 3d I have. The one that is "LOCKED" is a bad esn, and the other is clean ESN.

Does this have anything to do with the phone not being recognize.

USB cable... if not the data port is busted.

I've seen micro usb cables that work fine for most phones do nothing but charge others

Does it matter if the phone charges? Can it still be a busted data port? Plus the USB cable chargers and works with another htc evo 3d.
