    Here's my favorite three (currently):

    3) Android Booster: I use this app right before I put it back into my pocket. It immediately shuts down various programs that slow my ascend down and it shows a more specific battery life.

    2) Soundhound: Ever hear that song and wished you knew more about it? With a single tap, Soundhound can locate the artist, song title, album, and its lyrics. I've had it locate countless songs throughout shopping and even me mumbling through a verse or two.

    1) Comic Reader: There's plenty of comic book apps out there, but this one has everything AND Penny Arcade. Love comics and this is the one app I have to have.

#1. I like the Advanced Task Killer, which sounds like it's very similar to Martyn's Android Booster
#2. There's the Facebook and Twitter aps if you like Social media
#3. If you have kids, I would suggest the Toddler Lock ap, although I don't know which drains my battery faster; having Toddler lock on or my son watching Youtube videos on it all day.

My favorite application must be Speed Test. I do speed tests all the time..

I also like "Wireless Tether", which I use a few times a week. That does require root though.

I use Rhapsody a lot, but that is a subscription service. I pay $15/month for that.

Tango is fun, but it's not something I use often.

I also like TuneIn Radio, but I'm a little picky with my music. I don't want to just let the radio play, I want to pick what song I want to listen to.

I like the Weather Channel application. I put the widget on one of my homescreens so I always know what the weather is.

I use Better Keyboard 8. I've tried a couple other keyboards, and this is my favorite.

I use Gauge Battery Widget so I know the battery percentage at all times. It shows in the upper left hand corner of the screen in the notification bar.

I use NetCounter so I know how much data I'm using. I really like this application. I check it all the time. I've heard a lot of people use 3G Watch Dog. I might try that sometime.

I have Scanner Radio on my phone. It lets you listen to police scanners. I haven't used that for a while. I'll put that on now.

Over time, you will find more and more applications. You might want to look into moving your applications to your MicroSD card so you have enough space.

And on the Ascend I prefer Weatherbug to Weather Channel. It seems massive and just feels laggy on my little Ascend, and the radar takes far longer to load.
