Good eye. We've seen phones go and come back for a while. Any dealers want to chime in? Is it finally gone?

The Huawei Ascend is a good phone. I'm glad I got it.

Huawei could have done better, but with CyanogenMod 7 it's great.

How much of an improvement would you say the Ascend 2 is over the first Ascend?

I'm considering getting one since it's only $79.99. I hope it's just as tough as my current one. I don't want to drop it and have a cracked screen right away. My current Huawei Ascend has gone through a lot and it stills works just fine.

Support your local economy and local cricket dealers and purchase in store.

I don't have that kind of money. But, I did just get four slices of pizza at a local pizzeria.

Well if you came to my store and complained about it being cheaper online I'd throw in a case and a car charger, which more than makes up for the 20 dollar difference when coupled with good customer service and the fact you'll have an active phone when you leave the store.

Existing customers who purchase online still have to call or drive to a store for the ESN change, and will still be charged $15 for it.

I'd definitely go for that then! I think more places need to do things like that. There have been times when I've walked in to a pizzeria (I like food..) and was a dollar short or so, and instead of them letting me go, I just walked out and they missed out on my whole order. Now, there is another pizzeria (one I like) and the one day I was there and was about forty cents short they added a 10% discount on without a problem. I left a happy customer.

Personally, I don't like the store setting up my phone. I know for most people, it's great. They walk in the store and then bring it home not knowing what to do next. If the store does everything for you, it's so much easier. But, for me, I like to bring it home and set it up myself. I'm still stuck on that thing where you need to fully charge the phone before turning it on. I don't like it turned on before I fully charge it.

So, you're saying if I buy a phone online I can't just do *228 on the new phone when I get it? I really thought that was how it worked.

154-4bdu114h, if your store was in my area, I probably would support you, because I know you. I don't know anyone at the local stores and my last experience there wasn't the best so I haven't gone back since. I definitely agree about your "good customer service" statement. There are times when it's worth paying a little extra for someone in person that knows what they are talking about.

Not for existing customers, they ship the phone out without doing an ESN change, this prevents you from being without phone service for 24+ hours.

That doesn't make any sense to me. Is there a reason behind it?

Because your current phone wouldn't have service, you'd be without a phone until you receive the shipment. Imagine the shipment was lost or stolen? That would be a nightmare.
