    Looking to switch to Cricket.

So my verizon contract is up this month. Paying about $64 for unlimited texting and 400 minutes (I use about 20 minutes a month though).

Anyways I was looking at the mercury or a few other android phones on craigslist to flash.

I live in Beaverton, Or. 97006 if that helps.

Craigslist has a Motorola Droid 2 for $100
    HTC Incredible for $80
    HTC MyTouch for $120
Droid Charge with a 32gig sd card, otter case, extended battery and with Cyanogen for $139
    Droid X for $85
    Droid 2 global for $110

Should I grab one and switch to Cricket?

    -Thanks

    Thanks for the advice.
Craigslist here has a ton of droids for pretty cheap.
Looks like these are my options:
    Droid Incredible $175
    Droid X $100
    Droid X $85
    Droid Incredible $100
    Droid 3 $200

Thoughts? Any ways to test the phones for faults before actually handing over the cash?

Yes you can get the ran or emid and check it on freeesncheck.com think that is right. Make sure three esn is good so if u find u don't like cricket u can sell the phone with ease.
Also Google how to check for water damage on these phones.
When u first get your phone I'm sure u will eat battery cause u will be playing with it do much.

Think about if u want a keyboard. Droid 3 will give u that. HTC stuff is nice. See if u can find a Evo 4g. It's a great phone. Just got one for my wife and I have to say the screen is sooooo amazing

I'll go in and talk to the Cricket guys near my work today before my shift.

So just bring a laptop and check that it connects and charges?
    Then do an ESN check

    http://checkesnfree.com

So do I check for Cricket, or check for their original carrier?

I run Arch and get by just fine with that, so I'm not really afraid of more complex flashing methods. So would the X or Incredible be the better phone?

    HTC Evo 3D

good or bad esn doesnt matter aslong as it hasnt beeon on cricket and cricket blacklists it for no payment of bill or something of that from last person. But a good esn will bring more money when resold, but cost more for you! Bad esn will be less on you and a cheap resell also. I say get the NEWest phone they got, and confirm on this site that ALL features are working, such as data and mms! All those phoens are nice android, but if your going to spend money, spend it right! Dont by other ppls outdated junk! Remember just cause its popular, doesnt mean its FAST! Evo 4g is MUCH more popular then the Evo 3D but the 3D has a dual core 1gb ram to the single core Evo 4g with i think 1gb ram ! Read specs and find the best out the group, then come back to this forum and find that phone and see if someone confirmed that it has been fully flashed! =D just my 2cents! but im a android fan is proccessing speed is the first think i look for

All right, so I was reading up on the Droid X for cricket, but then saw an HTC Evo 4G for $75.
Is that a good deal, and overall which phone is better for cricket?

I also went in to visit a dealer who is offering my store the $55 smartphone plan for $45.75 and he said I'd need to buy a cricket phone and plan before switching to the flashed device. No way to just bring in a phone and activate that ESN, and then flash it?

I also found a Droid 2 for $60, just has a bad ESN.

    So Evo 4G for $75
    or
    Droid 2 for $60

The Evo looks to be more active, but what is least likely to have issues with Cricket?

In my opinion if you want the best specs go with the Droid 3. I'm a power user and that's what I would go with. Dual core 1 ghz processor and 1 gb of ram. You can get it on a custom true ICS rom as well and have data working.

Evo is like one of the easiest phones to get on Cricket. Probably one of the most highly recommended.

The guy with the Evo answers texts about once a day, so not sure if the EVO will pan out, but if it does I'll go for that over the Droid 2.

Droid 3 wasn't an option, unless you know where to find one in decent condition for under $100.

Craigslist should be full of Evos. I don't know why I stayed with the Droid 2 for so long. I don't even care for the keyboard anymore. Swiftkey eliminated my need for it.
