To everyone, this guide works for Gingerbread. There's no difference. MMS: I used this one in the tutorial..

    Alternative methods:

Open the APNs shortcut from your homescreen and edit the verizon entry to match the following:

    Name: Cricket
    APN: internet
Proxy: wap.mycricket.com (not needed if on the 55 Android plan)
Port: 8080 (not needed if on the 55 Android plan)
Username: xxxxxxxxxx@mycricket.com (replace x's with your 10 digit phone number)
    Password: cricket
    Server: wap.mycricket.com
    MMSC:
    http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms

MMS Proxy: wap.mycricket.com (if MMS doesn't work try removing this line)
    MMS Port: 8080
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 004
    Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
    APN type: default,mms

only thing was I had to do was redo the same one from scratch after the .621 update. Xtreme make sure USB debugging is ticked on the droid for the QPST problem. also for any rom testing, always flash first and rom second as a rule of thumb.

I would suggest updating the tutorial to use this tool for rooting rather than using z4root.

[Gingerbread Root] Pete's Motorola Root Tools - xda-developers

It so much faster does everything for you

Any idea how long it takes for a ESN change? I've been waiting nearly 2 hours.

---------- Post added at 11:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:15 AM ----------

And I'm just impatient, lol. Thank you CricketUsers.com for your help.

Dealer was probably out. They tried to process it last night, but you didn't have the correct amount of numbers in the ESN.

    Thread drift...

If the phone is pre-.621 Droid 3 Easy Root Script v7 works like a charm on Droid X and you don't have to do all the dos prompting.

yes, i am using HW Virtual serial port. and i have followed your tutorial to the detail, it is a very very good one.
even though i got stuck on the "00000" spc part in CDMA workshop. (CDMA says connected, until the moment i want to read or do something else and there is when says " phone does not answer"
i do ping the phone at 192.168.16.2 (i got assigned the 192.168.16.1). i tried even to read from the phone and no luck. the creation of the vitual port seems to be working fine, looks like a problem in the cdma 2.7 reading this particular phone (droid x2) according to my not big knowledge.

i will check on the X2 forum right now.
    more to follow.

    thanks again !
I'm having the same problem. Someone please help me. I'm flashing it to Metro, but I just need to get this part right first. Please help, thanks! I did all the previous steps as well.

i know this thread be old, but i cant even get anywhere due to the mtp drivers not installing. ive tried multiple computers and data cables to no avail. I have never seen a phone so hard to connect to. yes i have it in pc mode. i guess thats what you call it. mine says portal and
tools or memory card access. So i pick portal and tools. if i turn it off and plug it in then i get a bootloader screen and a ton of drivers, sans the mtp drivers and motorola connection drivers install.
